I am looking forward to using suspense in my Narration. I am a very big fan of horror movies which use a lot of suspense and I want to be able to link in foreshadowing to increase the suspense. I want to have people on the edge of their seats needing to keep reading to see what will happen next. I also want to practice with using irony. The concept of irony is something that I can speak and understand it. However, whenever I try to write anything ironic it usually feels awkward and misplaced. Hopefully, I can improve on it in this essay. I am looking forward to using imagery! When using imagery, I want to be able to have enough detail to create the perfect scene but be able to stray away from too much detail. I am excited to use oxymorons! I always enjoy it whenever oxymorons are written or spoken.
I am looking forward to using imagery in my Narrative. I enjoy making thoughts vivid with color and emotion because it makes books really interesting to read. It creates a more lifelike image inside of the reader's head. I feel it will propel my essay and make it captivating. I am also looking forward to using allusions. The use of allusions will allow me to fully grasp the reader's attention and make some of the things a little more relatable to them. I will probably use an allusion to the bible somewhere in my narration and that will hopefully connect with a lot of people that are involved in the Christian faith. I am also hoping to use some hyperboles inside of my essay (although not too many). Exaggeration will help make things more exciting and more powerful to read: something I want to be a part of my essay.
Something I am really looking forward to is using flashbacks to help build suspense for the readers. I like describing things in a way to the readers that make them feel they are in my shoes as they are reading. Exaggeration is a powerful mechanism when typing. It can really make the feel like the reader knows how you are feeling in a very very powerful way. Allusion is something I'm going to try to incorporate into my narrative. I feel it will speak well to the readers if I do not have to say everything exactly how it happened. And the readers can just know what I'm saying. I have never used hyperboles ever in any of my essays I have typed. I think this will be a very good time to give it a shot and it will improve my writing. I am very excited to write this paper and see how well I can incorporate all of these wonderful new ideas.
In telling my narrative story, I am most excited to include comparison. Using similes, metaphors, and allusion will be great ways to bring relatability and depth to my writing. They are quite easy to use and when done with great detail and efficiency terms of comparison can be very effective to the reader. Similarly, I stoaked to imitate an author in my writing. I just don’t know who I’m going to choose. I think that it would be fun to emulate an author with fun, unique writing but I don’t know if I want to create a rift between the paragraph and the rest of the piece. I still don’t know what to write about; however, there are many different ways to utilize the paragraph when emulating an author. Finally, I am really looking forward to onomatopeia. Firstly, the word itself is amusing to say and secondly, it’s interesting to use in writing.
I am looking forward to using things such as suspense and imagery in my essay. Suspense is a useful tool because it creates that sense of "I want to continue reading" in your essay, if you like horror movies and watch a lot of them, use suspense. Imagery on the other hand, creates a clear vivid picture of something you are trying to depict for your reader(s). If you do not have imagery in your writing, you should not be writing. The devil is in the details, clear pictures can be the turning point, for good or bad, in someones essay. Building character for your writing is a very big thing, what makes people want to read a certain writing, is if it speaks to them as a person. Making your essay relatable is key to the success of your paper. Using suspense and imagery in your essay is a good way to get your pointe across, and make something worth reading.
I am looking forward to using imagery and foreshadowing the most in my narrative. When I am reading a book and the author uses foreshadowing, it creates suspense and gives the reader a feeling that keeps you wanting to read. I feel that if I use foreshadowing in my narrative to create suspense, it will give the reader more enjoyment and they will be interested in continuing to hear the story I have written. I also enjoy when an author shows imagery while telling a story or in a book. When a writer uses imagery it gives the reader an image in their mind, and makes them feel as if they are actually experiencing the situation. This can give the reader a vivid image and make them feel connected and help them relate to the story. This also makes the reader have more attention and enjoy the story or writing more than if it didn't give the reader an image.
I am most looking forward to using suspense and foreshadowing in my essay. Mystery movies, music, books, and plays are my favorite things ever. I love going back after I finish them and look for clues and references I missed the first time. It is so rewarding and I want the reader of my essay to feel the same way. My story is not really a scary story but there are some things that I could tweak a little to fit into the mystery genre. I might just focus on foreshadowing so that maybe the reader will piece together the ending before it even happens. It could also just be a fun way to keep the reader interested and looking forward to finishing the essay. I am least looking forward to using literary devices like personification, hyperbole, and alliteration. These have never been fun to me and I find them quite hard to implicate in my stories.
In my narration essay, I am hoping to include as many literary devices as I can in order to help engage the reader, create imagery, and make my essay more enjoyable to read. I am most excited to get to imitate an author within my essay. Many of the books I have read in high school contain very distinct writing styles. Attempting to incorporate this into my writing without it blatantly standing out will be an intriguing challenge, and it will be a great way to learn from the skill of expert writers. In addition, I am also excited to implement allusions throughout my essay. Allusions provide a way to help the reader draw connections and receive extra meaning from an image or scene—making them a great addition to any narrative. By adding them, I will develop a stronger understanding of the ideas I am trying to express, helping me show them to my readers. By using literary tactics such as these, I hope to grow into a stronger writer, helping me in all of my future compositions.
I am looking forward to using similes, an alliteration, and an onomatopoeia. I enjoy using these three types of literary devices the most throughout essays because I feel it makes the essay more enjoyable to read and write. These devices give more depth and understanding of the work it is in and that is very entertaining for readers. Not only is it interesting for the readers, but also for the person writing. Using these three literary devices gives the writer freedom in what he or she is trying to portray and how far they want to go into detail about that specific topic. It is a great way to further enhance our understanding and skills in essays. Another tactic I am looking forward to using is imagery. This also goes along with the detail part of my essay. All of these literary devices gives a piece of literature life and makes them more interesting to read than one without it.
I am looking forward to using irony and foreshadowing in my Narration essay. The irony is the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect. I believe my story holds a lot of irony within it. I am writing about a music phenomenon failing at being a music phenomenon. I am also looking forward to using foreshowing. Foreshadowing is a warning or indication of (a future event). I think that there are a million different ways I can include foreshadowing within my essay. Some other things I am looking forward too are similies, alliteration, onomatopeias, suspense. I believe that using good literary devices will help me write the best I can. I want this story to be funny but at the same time, I want to get my point across. Learning to use these literary devices will help me do just that.
In constructing my narration essay, I am excited to use imagery. I want to be able to convey my story with descriptive and creative wording, allowing the reader to convey in their head the perfect picture. While trying to use imagery to build the setting of my story, I could use smilies and metaphors as well. These are usually quite easy to make and they convey something much greater. These literary devices can show a deeper meaning with a certain situation, person, and etc. by comparing it to something that can leave a lasting impression on the reader. Lastly, imitating an author of a book I have read. This will be a challenge, to say the least, but compelling to try to implement their style into my own. Using these literacy devices, it makes essay writing complicated but more interesting to the writer. It gives variance in the writing and makes it more of a rounded story, compared to one that is just written out.
I am looking forward to using suspense, imagery, foreshadowing and any other elements of design that can be implemented into my narrative essay. Providing readers with suspense allows their imagination to wander and to explore other possible outcomes of my story. In most of my writing, I enjoy using imagery to paint a vivid picture in the reader's mind. Some stories are hard to grasp, allowing pictures to develop in readers minds will, in hope, provide a better understanding of the message I am trying to get across. Foreshadowing events allows readers to expect what is to come, but twists are inevitable resulting is more storyline. I am also looking forward to sharing a personal experience that left an impact on my life great enough for me to write about it. My goal is to explore and learn more final exam terms when writing this essay and better structure sentences. My hope is to share my story with my classmates and readers and increase my technicality in writing.
I am looking forward to using literary devices in my narration like suspense, imagery, and foreshadowing. Suspense is something that I like when I am reading other books because it makes me want to keep reading. So I want to make sure I include that in my narration because it will make people want to keep reading. Imagery is something that every good book has, it creates pictures in the reader's head and could make them relate more to the reader. Foreshadowing is used to give hints to the ending of the story, and usually, after you read a book or watch a movie, you can go back and find where the foreshadowing happened more easily because you already know the ending so picking out spots of foreshadowing is easier than before. My goal is to learn more final exam terms, some new vocab and form better sentences. I also hope to share my story with the class and for my classmates to enjoy it while reading it.
I am most looking forward to using foreshadowing. I think that foreshadowing is the most fun to use and see in writing because it gives you an idea of what is going to happen without spoiling anything in the story. I believe that foreshadowing is the best because it can give the reader a purpose for reading the book other than just entertainment, it may make the reader want to keep going to see if their early predictions of what would happen would be right or if they would be completely off. Another reason that I think that foreshadowing is the best is that foreshadowing is showing a preview of what is to come, or it could just be a vision or hallucination making people have completely different views throughout the story and then change them at the end and make people re-read the story with a different perspective of the whole story.
In my narration, I am excited to use suspense throughout the whole essay. I will make the reader wait to hear the most exciting part until the end and build it up as I write. The suspense will make the most exciting part even more exciting. I am also excited to use imagery. I think imagery is a good way to describe an object or an event very vividly. It will give the reader a better understanding of what is happening. I will make sure to use imagery to make my essay longer. I will use all the senses within my imagery. The third literary device I am excited to use is the setting. I will make sure to set up my story very well by giving lots of details about it. It will let my reader better understand the story if they know where it is taking place. The last literary device I am excited to use symbols. I think symbols make it more interesting for the reader and create connections.
In my Narration essay, I am looking forward to using foreshadowing and imagery. Foreshadowing is a warning or indication of a future event. Imagery is a visually descriptive part of writing that allows people to get images of what’s happening in their heads. My story I’m using for my essay involves a lot of background information which will allow me to talk about things and go ahead in time to explain how it ties to my subject later on. Imagery will allow me to explain things in a manner making people to be able to really understand what I’m talking about because of how descriptive my writing will be. Suspense will also help my writing to make a reader want to keep reading allowing them to get deeper into my writing/story. Literary devices will help to enhance my writing allowing my paper to be the best it can be.
In my essay, I am excited to use different types of literary devices, but mainly imagery. I want the reader to be able to picture the moment I experienced in their heads. Imagery allows the reader to feel what I felt at that moment in time and to fully understand what my narration is about. Not only does imagery and vivid quotes create a better understanding, but it also is more enjoyable and entertaining for the reader. Another literary device I hope to implement in my essay is foreshadowing. Foreshadowing creates suspense and the desire for the reader to want to continue reading my essay. Using literary devices in one's essay is extremely important. It not only creates a better and more detailed essay but in the long run, it teaches you how to write a vivid and complete essay.
Some Literary devices I am looking forward to using in my essay are suspense, imagery, and irony. Suspense can help me progress my essay and make the reader interested in reading. I don't want this essay laid out like the last couple of essays where you have a pretty good idea of what the essay will be consisted of. I also want to use imagery and paint a picture in the reader's mind. I personally like imagery in writing because it helps me understand what is going on in the essay and it is easier to comprehend. To help imagery, I plan on using more descriptive adjectives and verbs to make the essay juicy. I also want to use irony in my essay to make it sort of unique and different from other essays. I also want to try and use foreshadowing, but I'm not really sure how to connect it in with my essay. I think foreshadowing makes the essay fun to read and gives it a little bit more suspense.
I am excited to use many different literary devices, such as allusion, flashbacks, and settings. However, the thing I am most excited about is imagery. Imagery is such a key thing in narration, it creates more details and makes a picture that people can see in their head. It goes from saying "I walked on the beach" to "I walked on the cool sand on the beach as the waves tickled my feet and the sun beat on my face". It allows people to understand the situation, create the mood of the story, and sets up the setting as well. When you do not use imagery, your story can become bland and boring and you lose the touch of having a wonderful narration. That is why I am excited about imagery, to be able to be descriptive and create a picture that is so clear that it is if I actually drew it.
I am looking forward to using allusions and foreshadowing the most. Allusions are really fun to use to reference Greek Mythology or a popular poem or play. These will allow the reader to make a connection to the essay from something else that they understand or are already knowledgeable about. Also, I am excited to use foreshadowing in my narrative essay. Foreshadowing hints at future events and the reader may or may not pick up on it. Or the reader may take the foreshadowing the wrong way and think there is a completely different ending. As soon as the reader reaches the part of the story that was foreshadowed, there is a lightbulb moment. I think foreshadowing is sometimes hard to do without giving away the ending, but if done properly can make a big difference to a story. The suspense added helps readers become more invested and interested in the ending. Also, I am looking forward to imitating an author’s writing style for a paragraph. I think that I am going to use J.R.R. Tolkien. I love his unique writing style and think it would be fun to have a paragraph imitating him.
I think I am looking forward to foreshadowing the most. At some points, it will be subtle and at other points, it will become blatantly obvious, but I think that foreshadowing is a great literary device to use in the type of essay to get more of a reaction from the audience. Since it has to happen over such a short period of time, I am going to tell the story from a little before it happened, then foreshadow what is going to happen right before it does happen. The story will take place over about a two hour span. I am going to try and imitate how John Steinbeck uses foreshadowing in "Of Mice and Men." He uses it by having George killing the dog and then Lennie. They both essentially have the same intelligence level and it is just a slight foreshadow about what is going to happen.
I am most excited to show symbolism in my essay. I am also excited to use settings and flashbacks to explain my situation. I think it will be hard to have foreshadowing and allusion in my essay. Imagery will probably be a big part of my essay because I want the reader to be able to see what I saw and feel how I felt. The author I am probably going to imitate is Mary Downing Hahn. She writes in a very common and easy to read way. I feel that if I imitate her writing style it will make my essay easier to understand for the reader. My life lesson might be kind of hard to follow so I want to make it as simple as I can so it is still able to be comprehended. The life lesson I learned is that no matter how dark your path becomes, there is always a light to be seen ahead. Hope is an important thing to learn and my life lesson is important for other people to have as well.
The part of my story that I am most excited about is the setting. The setting of my story is what was most impactful during time because of everything around me. I was in Florida so everything was very pretty but the people that were around me made it feel completely different. So, the reason I am looking forward to writing about setting is because I know that I can make the audience feel the intensity around me that I did and also the intimidation levels that were extremely high because of the confidence of the people around me. For the author that I am going to imitate I chose Hemmingway because of his six word story. His writing leaves room for the audience/readers to make their own connections and leave a suspenseful yet sad feeling within the short amount of words. I am going to try and do the same with the feeling of excitement mixed with intimidation.
In my essay, I am looking forward to using imagery, irony, and setting. I think that these are the more important literary devices because they can add so much to a paper. If you add imagery, you get a reader's attention by being descriptive and it keeps their attention. When it comes to setting, the place in which the story is set in is important. If you have no setting, you can't have a story. The irony is also a fun literary device to put into a paper. It can add a sense of humor which makes the reading experience more enjoyable. For the author, I chose to imitate Hemmingway. In his six-word stories, he can say a lot in so little which I admire. Some are sad but my six-word story is more hopeful. Providing hope is one thing I love doing. By keeping the title of my paper short it can be more impactful and grab the reader's attention before even going through the story itself.
I am looking forward to using foreshadowing in the essay. My title gives a hint on what my essay is about and what you think will happen but you will not know until you read my essay. You could say that I have suspense in my essay because I have one event that just leads to the worse event and that can make them want to read more. I'm not for sure yet what author I want to imitate yet, I'm kind of just being my own author right and I think I'm just gonna keep writing my essay until I want to figure out what author I will imitate or add dialogue. I think I need to add more imagery and add more detail to my setting you can feel like you are in the story more.
In my essay, I am most looking forward to using allusion. I think that allusion enhances a story and provides for a unique description of the subject you're trying to get across. It can help the reader understand the setting or physical appearance of something which I think is important. Sometimes when you are trying to follow a story, it is hard to picture what it looks like exactly. Using an allusion sets the scene with a more vivid picture than if you were to not use one. Also, when you add allusions that people understand—such as characters, settings, or scenes from popular novels or movies—it connects your personal story to a more well-known story. I am looking forward to finding popular references maybe from social media or movies that most kids my age would know to incorporate in my story. Hopefully, the allusions I add will help connect the reader to something they are familiar with. In turn, I would hope these allusions enhance the story in a good way, and not a confusing way.
I am going to use suspense, imagery, foreshadowing, setting, symbol, and irony. The one that I am going to use the most is imagery and setting. Creating imagery of a perfect day in the beginning. How normal the day looks at the beginning like going to church and getting groceries. Using descriptive words to make the image come to life. For example, the coffee smelled of bitterness when I walked through the doors of the church. I will also incorporate the setting with specific dates, times, and places. I will show irony in my essay with Tate’s story of how one of the many things that she could not protect herself from. She is a strong person that knows taekwondo and self-defense but could not protect herself from a fast-moving vehicle. I will use foreshadowing at the beginning of my story with my mom’s reaction to the death of a little boy we knew. Then talk about how I could recognize her voice and reaction towards Tate’s story. Suspense is going to build in my essay by starting out with foreshadowing and then starting off with a normal day leading up to her story.
When writing my narrative essay the literary device I am most excited to use is suspense. Having suspense in my essay will allow the story to become more interesting and will also help encourage the reader to want to continue reading. Although suspense is the literary device I am most excited to use, I am going to try to use as many literary devices as I can. Literary devices make writing better and make a more enjoyable experience for the reader. I'm not for sure what famous writer I am going to imitate for a paragraph quite yet. I have recently looked at a few writers such as Charles Dickens, Stephen King, Mark Twain, and William Shakespeare. I am going to continue to look at different famous writers works until I find a unique writing style that will go good and help boost the quality of my narration
When writing my essay, I am most looking forward to using imagery and suspense. I like the idea of describing something in a way that people will see as unique and will understand. Imagery is crucial, especially in a narrative. The story you are describing needs to be intriguing. Using boring phrases and words is could put your reader to sleep. All the great writers use imagery to the best of their ability. Writers like Charles Dickens or J.K. Rowling use imagery to help readers paint their own picture in their head. I have a fresh memory of the story I am writing about, so it will help me add in little details. Suspense can also fit in my essay well. It is important to keep your audience on edge. I have a few ideas of when I am going to put in foreshadowing, but I do not want to make it obvious and give away the main point of the story. I want to make the foreshadowings subtle and carefully placed.
While writing my essay, I am excited to use literary devices imagery and suspense. I like to use suspense while writing cause it makes whatever you are writing more interesting. It keeps the readers on the edge of their seats and makes them wanting more. I personally enjoy reading things that have suspense because not knowing what is gonna happen and how things will turn out until you finish is so interesting to me. Another literary device I will be using in my essay is Imagery. Imagery helps the reader understand more about what is going on with a better image inside their head. Imagery helps you go more into detail on what you are talking about without typing a novel to get your point across.
While writing my narrative essay, I am most excited to use the literary devices of imagery and suspense. I am looking forward to using imagery the most in my narrative. I think the use of imagery in an essay or writing helps the reader understand what is going on in the writing more. Hopefully, I can improve my skills on using imagery while writing this essay. The other literary device I look forward to using is suspense. Suspense, in my opinion, adds an interesting factor to the story. If writing leaves you on the edge of your seat for a little bit, you will always want to continue reading that specific writing. I am not quite sure which author I plan to try and imitate yet. I plan to continue to try and find the author that has a unique enough writing style that will somewhat blend with my narrative essay. I am looking forward to continuing my narrative essay.
In my narrative essay, I am imitating the author Douglas Adams. He was a British author that used a lot of interesting similes, imagery, and irony. I am most excited to be able to use all three of these literary devices in order to imitate Douglas Adams. His use of dry humor is really interesting and different from what most people would expect from most books. His similes are straightforward and humorous to make a more interesting read. The same could be said about his imagery. He finds very unique ways to explain different parts of the story that you normally would not expect. I am also looking forward to using irony because it can be used to create humor within the piece as well. Combining these three will hopefully help me portray the story in the manner that I would like and to keep the reader interesting while reading.
In my essay, I am looking forward to writing with many different literary devices. The two literary devices that I am most excited to use are imagery and suspense. I like authors that use literary devices. When imagery and suspense are used in a novel, it makes people want to keep reading. I am excited to write with these literary devices because they help make the novel more interesting. The suspense will help to get the readers interested in the story, and will also make the reader uncertain about what is going to happen. Because the reader is uncertain about what is going to happen, they will want to keep reading so they can find out what happens next. Imagery will help the readers to see what I saw, and will also allow them to make there own inferences or feelings. I think that these two literary devices will help my essay to become more relevant to the reader, and will help to keep an audience.
while writing my essay, I am looking forward most to using literary devices of suspense and imagery. I think both of these aspects makes the writing more interesting for readers. Imagery is a visually descriptive or figurative language. I hope I am able to be very descriptive in my writing so that people who read it are able to imagine it as if they were in my shoes. I am also looking forward to using suspense. The literary device of suspense means a state of being excited or anxious uncertainty about what may happen. Add suspense to my essay will engage readers a lot more and just overall make it more interesting. I know when I'm reading a book or even watching a movie I am most interested in it when it leaves you in a cliffhanger and leaves you asking questions. I have not yet chosen the author that I will imitate but I look forward to looking deeper into the different types of writing the authors have.
I am looking forward to using imagery, foreshadowing, flashbacks, and allusions in my essay. Imagery will come in handy when I am describing specific events. I believe that makes a story more interesting. When a writer proves descriptions, the reader can picture the events in their mind. I am also looking forward to using some allusions. Our comp music for this year has a lot to do with determination and strength, so I want to bring up those popular songs and tie them into my essay. Flashbacks will also be a nice tool to use to help portray my narration. This will allow me to provide important background to the story. I am unsure of what author I want to imitate for a paragraph. I will probably look at a few different books that I have enjoyed and see what author fits best with my style. This way, the tone of my paper doesn't change completely but still has a variation in style.
I am looking forward to using many literary devices; I am mainly excited to use suspense and foreshadowing. I particularly want to use these literary devices to keep the reader guessing how the story will end. I also want the reader to be intrigued about what will happen next. Suspense and foreshadowing will add elements that will force the reader to subconsciously make predictions throughout the story. Having full control over where and how I use them gives me the ability to manipulate the essay to build anticipation and create tension in any way I want. I like that the less formal, first-person story allows many more opportunities for literary devices compared to previous essays. Nearly all story-telling masterpieces have included foreshadowing and suspense. They are two literary devices that I have been exposed to for a very long time. I hope to recreate similar feelings in my story and incorporate inspiration from famous authors, whose work I have read in the past.
In my narration essay, I will be trying to incorporate multiple literary devices. I am excited to use the suspense, because I know readers will be more drawn to my story, feeling the need to read until the end. I will also be using lots of imagery to allow the readers to get a full picture of where I was and the feelings I was going through. I feel these are easier to use in a story, but I am going to challenge myself to add other literary devices such as foreshadowing and allusions. I am looking forward to adding these to make my essay more alive. At the moment I am still figuring out which famous author I will attempt to imitate in a part of my essay. I want to find one that will enhance my essay without making it seem like it is not my own work.
Suspense will be the most "fun" literary device used in my narrative essay. If I can fit in lots of irony and imagery that will also be great to include! Making this story interesting should not be hard; however, finding a way to express my many emotions might not be the easiest. The setting will be quite simple to do, but I will easily be able to dig into it deeper. The story takes place in the Performing Arts Center here at Brandon Valley High School during a musical rehearsal a couple years back. The amount of time I have spent in that auditorium will allow me to describe it not only on how it is physically, but how I feel within it emotionally. I would most like to mimic the author John Green simply because he often addresses emotions in odd circumstances and does a great job at it. Having read many of his books and being a fan of them all, I find that writing like him should be enjoyable.
I am looking forward to using irony for certain parts of my narrative essay. The overlying theme is fairly ironic. I was trying to get better at cross country running and ended up injuring myself and taking several steps backward in terms of improvement. I still need to figure out how to make the irony more apparent to the reader. I also plan on using imagery throughout my story. There were quite a few interesting trails and views throughout my run and I hope that I can describe them well to get the reader more involved and interested in my essay. Other than those literary devices, I do not have a plan to include them in my essay. I am mostly planning on just writing my essay and letting the literary devices happen naturally. I think that when I focus too much on including literary devices in my writing it will interrupt the natural flow and make my essay sound weird.
I am looking forward to using irony, foreshadowing, suspense, and imagery. A couple of my favorite genres includes horror and mystery, so I am excited to begin using some of the literary devices that are used in these horror movies/shows. I have always been fond of watching mystery crime shows and scary movies because I love the thrill that it gives me and I want to be able to use and show that in my writing to make the reader feel like they are actually in the narrative. This leads into imagery and I feel like this is going to play a major role in my paper, I want to make the ready actual see what I was seeing and going through because this experience had a great impact on my life and I learned a very important lesson that I think other people should learn as well. In the end, I want my essay to be both full of these literary devices and used well, as well as the story being enjoyable to read to other people.
In my narrative essay, I'm looking forward to using foreshadowing and flashbacks the most. I could also throw in suspense. My narration essay will be full of these three literary devices, as well as many more. I believe that these three will provide the most detail in my essay. My essay is going to discuss the passings of my father and uncle five days apart from each other. Obviously, I'm going to shorten this to a smaller time frame, and use suspense. Using suspense gives the reader more reasons as to why he or she should read it. This essay will also be full of emotion, which will help enhance the mood of the essay. Foreshadowing will provide, in more detail, of what will be coming later in my essay. My essay will also include a ton of flashbacks. This story will be told from my perspective from a little over a year ago. Using these three literary devices will drastically improve the quality of my essay.
I am looking forward to using imagery when discussing the setting and foreshadowing throughout my essay as a whole. I have never been exposed to intentionally writing with all of these literary devices and I am excited to give it my best try. I have studied books that use all of these terms and one of the most appealing to me is imagery. The way professional writers use imagery that easily sets up the setting is very inspiring. I am going to try to think outside the box and write in a way I have never written before. The other literary device I am excited to use is foreshadowing. I feel that foreshadowing is very hard to insert into an essay. I am going to write my entire essay and then go back and try to fit in foreshadowing that is clear and understandable. I am still quite confused about how I am going to write a paragraph imitating a famous author. I will need to do some research to find an author that will pique my interest.
I am looking forward to using irony. My story is really kinda ironic. My narrative is about how badly my sister Caylan and I wanted a dog, and one just happened to wander into our yard. This event was full of irony, it is still hard for me to believe. So when writing about it I am going to throw in as much irony as possible. I also will use a lot of foreshadowing during this essay. Doing both of these will be fun to do. The story its self has a sense of humor but adding these along with the narrative will show the reader just how ironic it was. I will be using a lot of details with the setting. Doing this will give the readers more insight into the situation at hand, also they will be able to get that picture in their head. I also plan to flashforward in the story to this year. This will show and prove what I learned from this experience. I think the literary device I am most excited about using is allusion. From the moment I read that we had to add an allusion to our narratives I instantly started brainstorming ideas.
The literary devices that I look most forward to using in my Narrative essay are allusions and a developed setting. The location in which I learned this important lesson we are to write about is a very unique building, so detailing the layout and architecture of it will help further understanding of the mood and my personal thoughts on the matter. As a reader, I have always appreciated when authors give a proper description of the character's surroundings, as it allows me to immerse myself into the story more. I believe that allusions will be another great addition to my essay because using them can further define my intended audience and allow them to feel more engaged, much like a setting does. I will be modeling after JK Rowling for this essay. Though I have never read a single book from the Harry Potter series, I have appreciated Rowling's other writings. She is a fan of using complex sentences and descriptive verbiage, something I find myself also using regularly.
When writing I like to use the literary devices of imagery and foreshadowing. My essay has a lot to deal with nature, and I am excited to show and explain all of the phenomenons that I witnessed. My narrative takes place in the mountain ranges in Switzerland where I climbed a mountain and spent a lot of time thinking at the top of the mountain. To be able to write about what I saw up there is very fun for me to do; I will be anticipating doing that in my essay. Also, I like to use foreshadowing when I write, because I enjoy having readers unknowing of what is going to happen later in my story. When reading, I enjoy foreshadowing because it will keep me on my toes and ready to find out the results of what happens. One author that I am looking forward to mimicking is JK Rowling—the author of the renowned Harry Potter Series. As a child I was very interested in Harry Potter books; therefore, I am excited to write like her. The composing that she has done in her books have always interested me and kept me turning pages; I want to be able to give that experience to my readers as well. She likes to use very descriptive writing and imagery as well as lots of present participles when she writes.
In my essay, there are three things I am looking forward to using. I look forward to using suspense, setting, and allusion. The story I am telling is set for a lot of suspense and points to keep readers interested in what will happen next. Suspense is very key in any story that is being told because it is what keeps the reader interested and involved in the book. The reader will sit and try to figure out what will happen next. The next thing I am wanting to use in a setting. In a story, the physical setting of where you are at is important, but also the mood. The mood sets the tone for the events. If it is a happy mood they events will be more upbeat. If the mood and setting are cloudier and more melancholy the events are more likely to be bad. The final one is allusion. I have always been a fan of mythology, books, and movies.
I look forward to using suspense in my narration essay. I am an avid movie-watcher and like to watch movies that have a fantastic suspense factor. Suspense is a great way to keep the audience engaged in the story and can cause many emotions during the climax. I like to use comparison devices such as similes and metaphors. It is a good way for people to understand more about what you are talking about. Foreshadowing will be another device I will use as it is a great way to hint at what is to come in a story. This will make the audience want to know how this will happen or if this part has something to do with what is going to happen in the future. I am excited to write this essay because I can manipulate the story I want to tell in a certain way that makes it sound interesting and also exciting.
I am very excited to use symbolism and suspense in my Narrative. The topic of my narrative is a very deep, dark subject. With this in mind, adding suspense will keep viewers reading and add a little "flavor" to my essay. Being able to suspend certain topics—including subjects matters of cancer and death—may the story more interesting and adds twists to everyday stories about cancer patients and survivors. With this dark side invoked, emotions are able to spew out of the story and connect real-life people with the experiences of my own. With symbolism, I am referring to the stars and talking about how time runs out for them, just like time runs out for everyone. The stars are a mystery to most—just like cancer. I will be using the writing style of John Green. In his book, The Fault in Our Stars, the cancer patients deal with battling different battles but putting aside their own grief to be with each other. These characters layout under the stars and talk about the future for everyone, and I hope to bring that to my story—with a twisting, plotful end.
In my narration essay, I am looking forward mostly to using very vivid imagery. Since I am one of eleven people to have lived this n a year, I know it better than almost anyone else does, but I want other people to be able to see into my mind the way it affected me and how I am today. I want to be able to paint an image in the readers’ minds so they can live my life alongside me, see what a saw and feel what I had felt. I will include an immense amount of detail for the reader without making the story seem slow. I want my story to be readable and enjoyable and smooth. When I read a book I personally find it most interesting when the imagery is good, it is like watching a movie in your head. If I can accomplish this, I think my story will be great and I will be happy with my work.
While writing my essay, I look forward to using imagery and foreshadowing. By the end of this class, I hope to be able to compose great literature. Whenever I am reading a story I love it when the author uses imagery to help me understand the setting of the story. I hope that when someone is reading one of my stories they also feel the same way, that I am great at using imagery and are helping them view the story the same way I had when I wrote it. I am also looking forward to using foreshadowing throughout my essay. Personally, I love mystery stories. I love trying to figure out what is going to happen before it actually does happen. I enjoy using foreshadowing because this causes the reader to believe to know what is going to happen before it actually happens, even if that's not what actually will happen in the story.
In my essay, I am looking forward to using suspense, irony, imagery, setting, and foreshadowing. My narration is about the time I was in a kayak accident with my family. Using imagery and setting will help to give the readers a picture of the scenario I was in, and what I experienced and saw. There are a lot of little details to help paint this picture to depict exactly how I felt sitting upon a rock, imagery and setting will enable me to do this in the best way. Suspense in my story comes from what was going to happen next, as we were struggling in the water we were so nervous about what would happen if we weren't rescued. We knew that the water was high the day we went out, but we didn't prepare ourselves for what happened. Foreshadowing happens in little details my brother told me along the way, an example of this is how he told me I needed to put on my lifejacket right before he entered the section of rock we crashed in. I want to imitate Tara Westover, author of the book Educate, I think she is a great writer and this book is her personal narrative on her childhood.
The literary device I am looking forward to using in my essay is foreshadowing. My story is about being careful what you wish for because it may come true. My story gives me perfect opportunities to use foreshadowing in order to make my essay more entertaining and intriguing. I also enjoy using imagery in stories because that is what I enjoy when reading a book. I want to have as much detail as possible because that makes the story come to life like a movie in the reader's head. I don't read a lot but sometimes I do enjoy reading a book if it is one that I get to pick out. My favorite book I have ever read would probably be either Wonder or The Kite Runner. These books are written by two different authors, R.J. Palacio and Khaled Hosseini. I like both authors style so I may incorporate both into my essay. I especially like the way Hosseini used flashbacks in his novel.
In my essay, I am choosing to utilize the literary devices of suspense, imagery, and foreshadowing. My essay is taking place in Brookings, South Dakota at the site of the College Gameday, and for those that don’t know what College Gameday is it a traveling group of people that are renowned in college football in some way or another. They travel around to the best college football game in the entire nation. So it is considered to be a prestigious recognition if they choose to go to that certain college, and in my own personal opinion, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness College Gameday in person. But, I had also signed up for the ACT test and that would take place the same morning so I was forced with a decicion between the two which is going to create some suspense because the reader doesn’t know what I am going to choose. I am also going to foreshadow my decicion earlier in the essay. I am also going to use impeccable imagery to make it seem as if the reader was right next to me. Lastly, the author that I am going to imitate is going to be Mike Lupica and how he always kept my attention and used great imagery.
In my essay, I am looking forward to using literary devices such as foreshadowing and imagery the most. I like using foreshadowing because it gives the reader a slight inclination of what is coming up in future reading. Foreshadowing allows the reader to be interested in the essay and makes them want to continue reading to see the outcome. There is no doubt I will be using many examples of imagery in my essay. Imagery is a literary device that keeps the reader entertained in great detail. I will use very descriptive words in my essay and give the reader a clear view as to what is happening. I don't have a favorite author in mind that I plan to imitate yet, but I am excited to explore the different styles and find one that works best for me and will fit well in my narration essay. It was tough for me to think of a topic to write about but I like the amount of freedom we have. We are allowed to tell a story from our own perspective and how it has impacted us.
I haven't written much yet but I am excited about my topic. It is a very unique and funny situation that most people would not expect. I want to use a lot of imagery, foreshadowing, and allusion. My story is not too insane and it is very real. I feel like these devices will keep the story true but add a little pizzazz. I have always found it easier to compose things from my head rather than doing research on them. I have always wanted to write a book or a story as well. This narration lets me tell a story without having to teach a lesson, or having to explain every little detail. I am able to fully express myself on events that actually happened and that is very exciting for me. I am going to try and write like Francine Rivers. She is one of my favorite Christian authors. I really like how she describes things and her books are so enticing; it is amazing.
The literary devices that I am most looking forward to using inside my narration essay are setting and imagery. There are many others, but these two will work best when writing my essay. I am excited to use the setting because my narration takes place in Paris, France. I will be able to go into well thought out details about why I was there and what we did in those few hours that the narration takes place. I am excited to include imagery in this essay because there are many things I saw when I was waiting in line and what I saw of Paris when I was on the top of the Eiffel tower. Using vivid imagery in my narration will help my readers fully grasp an idea of the setting and what is occurring at the time. Using many descriptive words to create the story will make it more interesting to read and write. This essay will overall help me become a more elaborate writer.
While writing my essay, I am excited to use devices like imagery and setting. I like to be able to have the reader not only picture the scene but also feel the emotions that are being felt during my narration. For the explanation of my life lesson, I will have to include a strong flashback that will be able to set up why the relationship was very important to me and how I grew from it during and after it ended. By using allusions and metaphors, I am looking forward to creating a story that others can further relate to and either learn or agree to the morals that I learned through it. The comparisons will allow me to connect the emotions and conflict to something of the same degree that others might be able to more commonly identify with. I hope by using some exaggeration I can create a greater amount of suspense for the reader than there might have been during the actual event. I have yet to pinpoint an exact author that I will imitate.
I love finding detailed imagery when I read so I am excited to incorporate that into my essay. The use of imagery can make or break a story for me. Imagery contributes so much. Yes, a reader can create a scene in their head but they have to make out details that the author did not include. This allows a reader to envision the scene with a bit of their own twist, but others just wonder what the author was imagining. I am in the second group. I want to know what the author thought and saw and not have to imagine. My narrative takes place when I was in fifth grade. I am planning on showing how hard work pays off. For Christmas that year all three of us kids opened up gift bags that had something no kid wants to see on Christmas day. Inside we saw worksheets and textbooks. Our parents had talked to our teachers before Christmas break without our knowledge. They had gotten the homework for when we would be down in Florida. Imagery is a great way to help the readers feel as though they are there and experiencing it with you. Imagery helps the reader to better understand where the author is coming from while helping to create the big picture. I still have not decided yet which Author's style I am going to mimic yet. As of now, I am looking at Kiera Cass or C.C. Hunter. Both write young adult fiction and have a more informal style of writing that I feel will blend in better with my own writing style.
Overall, I am most excited to use imagery while writing my Narration essay. From figurative language to descriptive adjectives, much of the joy of composition comes from allowing the reader to experience your ideas. Indeed, the common "show not tell" lesson is critical to high-quality writing and something I have always attempted to follow. Because of this essay's narrative focus, I look forward to attempting to creatively depict imagery throughout my writing. One way I plan on doing this is by imitating a famous author. For my essay, I plan on repeating the style and structure found at the conclusion of Charles Dickens's book "A Tale of Two Cities". Hopefully, the reader will recognize this reference, causing them to become more drawn into the essays underlying moral. Other than imagery, I also plan on including symbolism, allusions, characterizations, and alliterations, allowing me to create the most effective essay I can.
In my Narration essay, I am looking forward to using lots of different types of literary devices that I have not been able to use before. I am most looking forward to using elements such as suspense, imagery, and setting. In my essay, I want the reader to be able to visualize everything that I had experienced. Using these devices I will be able to draw a picture in the mind of the reader. Also, it will add new elements to my essay and will help me to become a better writer. My story is when I was in the Dominican Republic and we were going to the rainforest to see some wildlife. I want the reader to be able to see the details that I had. When it comes to imitating a professional author, I am not quite sure who I will imitate for a paragraph. I am thinking that I will possibly be able to imitate the likes of Edgar Allan Poe for a paragraph. Another main one that I am leaning towards is Cormac McCarthy. He is the author of the novel "The Road" which we read last year. He has a different style of writing where he doesn't use quotes. He is unique and I think that I will be able to imitate this. I am excited to get working on my essay.
I am looking forward to using irony, imagery, and foreshadowing in my essay. These elements will provide intrigue for readers. These literary devices will, fingers crossed, leave readers wanting more. I already have ideas of how I will incorporate each one into my narrative essay. On the other hand, I am nervous about adding an allusion, because I don’t know how, who, or what I will allude to at the moment. Hopefully, something will come to me when I continue to write. The author I am planning on imitating is Lemony Snicket. I am so excited to test out a new writing style with his works. I loved reading Lemony Snicket’s book series called The Series of Unfortunate Events. I never really thought about his writing style way back when, so I am curious to discover that. I am thinking his style will be considered odd and abrupt (almost like dry humor).
The literary device that I am looking forward to the most in my Narrative essay is the foreshadowing. I have always had a love of foreshadowing in books, and want to have the reading making knowledgeable guesses about what is to come. I am also excited to put details in this story from my own perspective and create an image that the reader will get the same view and perspective that I had. I am still thinking about a famous author to imitate, but my thoughts now are Shakespear or another older writer such as Edgar Allen Poe. I think that doing a Shakespearean of writing style to my essay will make it somewhat funny, but it will also make it stand out. I was also thinking of doing Poe because I have a love for the more creepy aspect of writing, and think it would be fun as one of my favorite short stories is, "The Raven." Even though my story is not particularly a scary story as much as a dramatic one, I think either of these writing styles will work for it.
The literary devices I am looking forward to using in my narration essay are foreshadowing, imagery, and comparison. My narration essay will be filled with these literary devices. The first literary device I am looking forward to using is foreshadowing. Foreshadowing will be kind of difficult to fit into my essay, but using it will make my narration more suspenseful. The next literary device I am excited to incorporate into my essay is imagery. When I am reading a story I like it when there is a lot of imagery and detail. The imagery and detail allows my imagination to put and image in my head of the setting and characters in the story. I think that imagery and detail make my narration more entertaining to read. I will be using imagery to help set up the setting of my narration. The last literary device I am excited to use in my essay is using comparison with similes and metaphors. I think that they are good to help the reader imagine the setting
I am looking forward to using all types of literary devices in my essay. The main two I will focus on are foreshadowing and imagery. I like to use imagery in my writing because it helps paint a picture for the reader. The use of imagery can make your story much more intriguing. I will use foreshadowing in my writing to inform the reader about upcoming events. I am writing my essay about my move to Brandon and all the different lessons it taught me. I am confident that I will be able to use these literary devices correctly. I will do this by using specific and descriptive words. The author I will try to imitate is Edgar Allan Poe. He wrote with large amounts of imagery and was able to evoke emotions in the reader. His stories are very intriguing and always kept me on the edge of my seat.
I am most looking forward to using foreshadowing in my personal narrative. Foreshadowing and adding suspense to almost any piece of work makes it so much more interesting. Reading essays can often be dull and boring, but by telling a story from my point of view and adding suspense will hopefully make an entertaining piece of work. I am excited to tell a story in the first person as it is in everyone's nature to use "I" or "me." I have not decided on which famous author I would like to imitate yet. My initial thought was to use the author of a novel that I have read in previous years of English class; however, I am not sure if it will mesh well with my personal narrative. I think this will be the most difficult part of my essay. Including allusion in my writing has never been my forte.
In my narration essay, I am looking forward to using one instance of foreshadowing. The reason for this is I find it the most creative way to tie the ending into the beginning, whether it is directly clear or somewhat hidden from the reader. In most novels, foreshadowing is a key aspect of the story. It often wraps the beginning conflict to the resolve of the ending conflict. I personally find it boring when a book does not include foreshadowing. Without foreshadowing, the beginning of the book often seems pointless and has no real effect on the outcome of the story. I plan on writing about the struggle I intial had with taking a deer's life, and I'll be using foreshadowing to hint at this moral dilemma at the beginning of my essay. The author I tend to imitate is Cormac Mcarthy, the author of The Road. The way he makes sentences grammatically correct with a lack of grammar is very interesting to me.
In my narration essay, I am looking forward to adding suspense and imagery. As a reader, my favorite thing in a book is either of the two. I think that adding suspense to the essay will keep the reader entertained and keep them reading. Adding imagery will also help the reader pay attention because they will be able to see (in their head) what it happening and see their own version of your story. When I read, the main thing that keeps me turning the pages is powerful adjectives and different word usage. The author I choose to imitate is a South Dakota author named Dam Mccrea. Dan is a retired game warden from Moody County and wrote books about all of his experiences. I like his books because he adds sarcasm and I think that also helps keep the reader entertained. The is able to make his stories flow very well while also keeping them funny and light hearted and I think that will be really important in this essay.
I am looking forward to using allusion in my narrative essay. My essay is going to be about my last piano lesson, when my teacher retired. I think it will be fun to allude to stories like The Odyssey or The Great Gatsby because I think it will be a good way to portray my emotions at that time. I am also looking forward to using imagery. I think I can get the reader involved by vividly describing the moment. I can describe the room, and how it had changed over the years from a place of boredom (when I began lessons, I did not particularly like the piano) to a place of happiness. I hope that these elements will make my essay more interesting to read, because I don't want to bore people. If I am able to get people sucked into my essay by describing things so that they can immerse themselves, then I think it will be a fun read.
I am looking forward to using allusions in my essay because I’ve never really incorporated that into my writing before. When I independently read, I enjoy it when an author adds an allusion because it gives the story dimension. It broadens your imagination by taking you to a familiar face or figure. Another device I am looking forward to using is imagery. Using descriptive adjectives and powerful verbs makes an essay much more fun to read. I would much rather have my writing be described as unique and vibrant than bland and common. I am currently undecided on which author I will imitate for a paragraph. I suppose I am still unsure of what that actually looks like, but once I figure it out, I may choose Jodi Piccoult. She is a great storyteller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. I love how she incorporates drama, romance, and humor into her writing.
I am looking forward to using hints of irony, vivid imagery, and possibly some foreshadowing in my narrative essay. I want hints of irony to not only make the book seem realistic, but I also want it to be a sense of irony that others can relate to. I want them to think, "Hey, I understand that." I want my readers to feel connected to me and my story in some way. The same goes for vivid imagery. I want to "paint" a picture with words so that the readers get a vivid picture of what the idea is. If they have a good idea of what is around and insert themselves into the book, then they are allowing themselves to take a stand from my view and perspective. I would like to add some foreshadowing to my book. I know that while I read I may not be as into it, but when confronted with foreshadowing I feel compelled to read on to answer some questions.
While writing my essay, I most looking forward to creating a unique setting with lots of imagery. Having the reader be able to really picture what I was seeing through my own eyes and understand the tone of the situation just through imagery is a goal that I hope to achieve throughout my writing. Foreshadowing is another literary device that I am fairly excited to use. I’d like to make the foreshadowing understandable, but not completely obvious; just enough to make the reader question the direction that the story is going in. As for which author I am going to mimic for a paragraph in my narrative, I am not completely decided on whose style would fit the story the best. One of my favorite aspects of pieces of literature is their ability to transport you somewhere that you aren't just through language, therefore I hope to choose an author that has a strong sense of imagery and is well known in their abilities to create a distinct setting.
I am looking forward to using foreshadowing, imagery, and setting. I think the foreshadowing will come into play pretty easily because it's clear to see how some of the events will lead to other things in my story. I think the foreshadowing will easily get the reader's attention because the adjectives I'm planning on using are pretty attention-grabbing and they should be quite easy to use in the plotline. Imagery should also come into play in my essay because the big event in my story is something that everyone has seen at least once in their life and is pretty hard to forget about. The setting part I feel will be the most difficult part to incorporate into my essay, just because it will be hard to describe the buildings accurately that are a crucial part of my essay. However, the mood and times of the story should be pretty easy to get across to the reader, because I remember them vividly.... I am planning on imitating Jack London possibly, but that definitely could change by the time I get to that portion of my essay.
I am looking forward most to using foreshadowing in my paper above all other literary devices. I think Foreshadowing is one of the coolest things to use in writing because, if the reader is clever enough, they can pick up on it and predict what will happen next. Also, I am looking forward to using imagery. This is because using descriptive words makes an essay easier and more enjoyable to read, and who doesn't like that? In my essay, I am going to try to imitate Dan Brown in his book, "Da Vinci Code". In that book, Dan uses foreshadowing in a way where he makes the readers think one way, by having a character act suspicious, but then another thing happens, which catches all of the readers off guard, and I think that is brilliant. If I can pull it off, I think it will be very cool and improve my essay immensely along with the imagery.
I am really looking forward to using imagery in my essay. I think that imagery, if done correctly, can really elevate an essay. I think that painting a mental picture is really important in an essay. In terms of an author that I would like to imitate, I would have to say, Stephen King. He goes along with the imagery literary device. In every Stephen King novel, he uses fantastic imagery to gross out or create suspense within his readers. He takes things that wouldn't normally be described and talk about them with great detail. I am also really excited to use irony in my essay. I feel like it will be easy to use in my case. In my narration essay example, I wanted so much for everything to be perfect, the irony of the situation and the lesson I want to talk about is that no one and nothing is perfect.
I am looking forward to using imagery the most. I think it would make my narration extremely interesting if I can really paint a picture of what it was like to be right there in my story. I am writing about a plane ride which is seemingly boring but if I can use my imagery correctly I will be able to show that it is not boring at all. If I am able to make a plane ride, which is usually a boring thing, exciting and captivating it will be a success and I think the biggest tool in my toolbox is imagery. The person I look forward to writing like most is Malcolm Gladwell who is my favorite author. His books are more non-fiction books and they kind of give explanations for things but the way in which he does it is fantastic. His writing is so easy to understand and paints a picture of his explanations but he does it in a way that still allows you to feel like what you are reading is interesting and complex. If I can incorporate imagery and imitate Malcolm Gladwell in my own way I believe my narration will be a win.
I am looking forward to using foreshadowing the most in my essay. Along with a couple of symbols, I think that I could create some great suspense builders and hints as to the climax of the story. Though they might be subtle and go unnoticed, a keen reader will pick up on these signals and develop in interest in the plot. Another literary device I'm excited to use is setting. As a writer, I want to be able to paint a mental picture in the reader's mind so that they can "see" what is developing in the story. When an author or writer is very descriptive, it helps me engage in the story because the book is almost like a movie. I will be imitating Lee Harper, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, for a paragraph. I chose this author because I think she writes with excellent detail and keeps the reader guessing what will happen next. Also, To Kill a Mockingbird is a thought-provoking book that ranks in my top ten best reads.
I am very excited to elaborate on an event in my life for my personal narrative. To make my personal narrative intellectual, interesting, and entertaining I plan on using several literary devices. Literary devices will really take my essay to the next level. Some literary devices that may play a role in my essay include imagery, suspense, and comparing with similes, metaphors, and allusions. With imagery, I will be able to portray a picture of setting and events by using descriptive words. With suspense, I will be able to engage the reader and make them want to keep reading. Lastly, comparing will help me draw in other sources to add to the writing's intellectuality. The well-known author I am planning on including in my essay is John Green. The reason I chose him is that I really envy his writing style and ability. I think I will be able to include him in it because he talks a lot about young adults and what they experience in their lives, similar to what my personal narrative relates to.
To be honest I don’t have a specific type of literary device that I am really wanting to use; I am hoping to just use as many as I can, with the most effect that I can in each. I do want to at least have one type of foreshadowing and I also want to come up with a cool way to incorporate the symbolism requirements, hopefully in a unique unusual way. As for the author, I am also not set in stone on a certain one; I am going to do some checking and look into more and try to either find a author that writes in a similar style I do already and look to improve my writing or I may find an author that is nothing like how I write, go out of my comfort zone and try to improve my writing skills in another way by trying a completely new technique.
The literary devices that I am most looking forward to use in the upcoming Narration Essay are suspense, imagery, and foreshadowing. Suspense is an easy way for readers to get engaged in your essay. Suspense will always find a way of putting the reader at the edge of their seats. Foreshadowing is a way that suspense is carried on throughout the whole essay. Imagery is a must when typing a Narration essay because you want to give the readers a visual while reading the essay. The readers need to be able to visualize what is happening and get a real-life feel for it. Foreshadowing is way for a reader to anticipate what is about to happen. Using these types of literary devices may be difficult to incorporate into this essay but I know that to make my essay better, these must be used. It will create a more interesting read and ultimately brings the essay to a more complete final product.
While writing my essay, my goal is to try and use all literary devices effectively. I will be trying to take advantage of literary devices such as suspense, imagery, and setting. I think that using all of these can make for a very effective paper that is entertaining for the reader to get lost in. Especially with the particular topic, I am writing about. I also think that using suspense will be very effective in my story. I am planning on writing like J.R.R. Tolkien. He is the author of my favorite series, being The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings, which is really the same series. I think that writing this essay about this particular memory will be fun, just to look back on and remember this very fond memory that I have with my Grandfather and my younger brother. I believe that using suspense, as I mentioned earlier, will make this story very interesting for a reader to get into.
For me, I am most excited to use only a couple of these literary devices. Which are foreshadowing and suspense. I really like these two devices because they always keep the reader on their toes. They can keep the reader guessing. Also, you can use these to build up the climax of your story, so when you hit the reader with the big event or the lesson learned it makes more of a lasting impact. I also think that it can be really interesting to use false foreshadowing for the reason of leading the reader to believe one thing is going to happen, but then a totally different action occurs. That can keep the literature more interesting. No one likes to be able to predict what is going to happen next. They like twisting events and plots that switch up in many different ways. One of the authors writing that I am most excited to use is Gary Paulsen. Growing up I adored his "Hatchet" series of books. I was really into survival so for the longest time growing up, and I extremely enjoyed reading his books.
In my narration essay, I plan on using many different literary devices. One of them happens to be foreshadowing. I will foreshadow to hint at events that happened in the future and make the reader try and guess what is going to happen. My story is about the time I got lost in the Northern wilderness of Minnesota hunting in the wintertime. Many different things happen that night that foreshadowing will help make the moment feel even more suspense-filled. I can use foreshadowing to build up to the climax of the story and then have the big reveal at the end. Another literary device I will be using is describing the setting and imagery to help the reader to imagine the area I was in. This will help them comprehend what I was going through and how I got lost. I will do my best to make the reader feel like ehe is there with me and can understand my predicament.
I am most excited to use Imagery and Setting in my narration story. With my personal narration of this story, these two pieces of literary devices will be the most effective in the way I plan on delivering my story which is first-person and a lot of intense and scenic imagery. I want the reader to be able to fully immerse themselves into my story and feel as if they were right there experiencing what is happening. I am also excited to attempt to add some irony to my story. My story contains a lot of boneheaded and funny moments that Irony would help add a nice touch to my story. The author I am most excited to imitate is Henry Winkler. I loved his stories about Hank Zipzer and it brings back a lot of good memories of when I first got into reading books. I probably got half of my overall AR goal in 4th and 5th grade from those books.
I think that the literary device that I am looking forward to using the most is allusion. Personally, I absolutely love it when I come across a reference in some sort of entertainment medium that refers to something in another entertainment medium, so I want to include it in my personal narrative. I always feel a sense of joy whenever I get a reference that comes up in a book, TV show or video game. As for the author I would like to imitate in style, I have decided on Markus Zusak. I enjoyed reading his The Book Theif, and because of that, I will copy some of his style in my own writing. Overall, I look forward to writing this essay more than the last because I won't have to do any research; everything I need is already in my head.
I am looking forward to adding all of these in my narration essay because they all can add so much to your essay, but if I had to choose one, I would choose imagery. I would choose imagery because you can add so much to a story by adding in words that will make the reader really feel as if they are there with you experiencing all of the things that you experienced and that is super cool to me. I think it is really neat when writers use such great imagery that you can literally picture what is happening in your mind and make up a scenario with no words and just the words you are reading. A writer who I will try to imitate in a paragraph in my essay is Cormac McCarthy. The reason I chose him is because when I read the book the road last year, I had a visual image at every time in the story because he used such good imagery throughout the whole entire book. I would love to try and do that throughout my whole narration essay as well.
I am looking forward to using foreshadowing in my narrative. Foreshadowing is like dropping a hint or a clue into my essay for the reader to catch and it also builds some suspense as well. I am also looking forward to using imagery. This is the first essay where you have many opportunities to use imagery and for it being a narrative it gives us all the power to use our imagination and creativity to retell the story in our own way. I also want to use allusions in my essay. Combining imagery with allusions will enhance the imagery itself by referencing something known to many so they get a better idea of what I am talking about or what situation would be happening. The author I want to try and imitate is Harper Lee. I read "To Kill a Mocking Bird" last year and I recall the narration style of writing because the story was written through Scout's perspective and she had the freedom to make things appear as she wanted and not how they really were. In the story, Scout's mind races all over the place and her confusion shows that she is not a credible source, but I think it will be interesting to try and mimic that style of writing for a paragraph.
I am looking forward to using all of these in my narrative, but if I had to choose one, I would select flashbacks because I feel they are a crucial component in completing my story. Without flashbacks, it would be very challenging to understand the series of events leading up to the climax of my personal narrative. Another literary device I am excited to use is imagery. Using imagery creates a strong visual in detail throughout literary works, and I genuinely believe that it is key to writing a substantially depicted story. I have made a final decision on which author I am going to imitate for a paragraph in my narration. I am looking forward to using a large variety of literary devices in my personal narrative, and I hope to strengthen my writing by doing so. This essay is, without a doubt, one of my favorites that we had written this year. It is personally and a great way to share personal life lessons and experiences.
With my essay I am writing about a more recent event that changed me. Last summer my father, brother and I went mountain climbing in Colorado. The event was made more impactful in junction with a trip from the previous year and a previous attempt to climb a specific mountain. I will be setting up the main five hour event be referring to the previous excursions that would make the main event so memorable. I will use forms of imagery in order to convey what it was like mountain climbing and how the surroundings affect our trek. The setting plays a large part in my story to using imagery effectively is important to get across what it was like climbing mountains. Right now I don’t know what author I might try and imitate as I don’t really have a favorite one. I’ll have to go back to some of my favorite books and see if I can mimic the structure of certain sentences.
I am very excited to be writing a narrative essay this week. As a reader, narratives are the most pleasant. Storytelling is such a fun way of writing. While writing this essay I am most excited to expand on my use of literary devices. Descriptive words, great imagery, unique writing styles, foreshadowing, and allusions will all be used to take my narrative essay to the next level. When telling a story you must use all of these things, especially if you want to keep your reader engaged. I feel as though I have a great grasp on the literary devices and I am ready to incorporate them in my essay. I am looking forward to using foreshadowing in my essay the most. Foreshadowing is one of my favorite things when reading a paper, book, short story, etc. When reading a story that uses foreshadowing you do not fully understand some key details until the end of the story. When you finish the story or whatever type of work you are reading, in the end, you say to yourself, "it all makes sense now".
I am looking forward to using foreshadowing and imagery in my narrative essay. Foreshadowing to me is one of the most crucial components in a story. When reading a novel or story foreshadowing is really what creates a bait to get the reader to read more and more. I always am the person who wants to know the final ending or what they are hinting at with this literary device. Another literary device that sticks out to me is imagery. Having strong imagery in your essay causes the reader to create a clear image in there head when they are reading. Making the essay easy to comprehend and create a better experience. The author I will be imitating is Veronica Roth. Growing up I remember reading the book series "Divergent" written by her and ever chapter had at least one form of foreshadowing to get you to read the whole book series. She was also profound at using clear, thoughtful imagery even before the movie was made I already had a clear setting and background of what everything looked like.
For my narration essay, I look forward to using imagery and foreshadowing the most, and maybe a symbol. I plan to use imagery to describe not only the land around the orphanage I stayed at but also the toys the kids played with and the tools we worked with. I hope to correctly use foreshadowing in my essay as well, to leave the reader guessing for a time on what will happen during those hours. A symbol may be useful for foreshadowing, but also to describe what was important to me in my time in Mexico. The author I plan to imitate is Cormac McCarthy. I did enjoy reading The Road last year, and his style of writing is very unique, but kind of confusing. His use of dialog is using a whole line for the characters' dialog exchange, which is often short. he also does not use quotation marks when a character is talking.
I'm excited to use metaphors because they are an opportunity to really get an image across—a new perspective on an old idea for the reader. "This is that." It's so simple! Yet it ties opposite ends of the world together. Objects to never be compared; everything becomes so connected. I love metaphors.
Setting is also crucial to my narration, in an abstract, interpretive way. While my essay takes place mostly in the gym, my poem, weaved throughout, carries the reader on an imaginative journey through space in time, yet remains personal to their experiences. For example, most people have been in a creek, or even just seen one in a movie, so I let their imaginations take them to the creek of their choice. I don't tell them what the banana could see on that gym ceiling, I let them decide. I take the reader through time in describing our memories leading up to cross paths in... well, that gym. This all happens in that, simple gym, around that pile of objects.
I would like to write like Rupi Kaur, simply because her words and her poetry have spoken to me. I read her books about once a year, and each time they say something different, if you know what I mean :) Her words carry new life experiences and new perspectives of mine.
I am looking forward to adding all of these and more into my narration essay. I believe that all of these devices would be integral to add within your essay. The one I would like to use the most is the setting. Setting creates and offers so much to the story. The setting offers where the narration takes place which is incredibly important and detrimental to the setting. It also offers time in which events take place and when things take place. As stated before, this also very detrimental. Without place or time the story can have limited fluidity and can be scrambled in may ways. The writer I choose is Cormac Mcarthy. The reason I choose Cormac McCarthy because his writing style if often contradictory to usual writing. He often uses the lack of punctuation to emphasize different parts of the story. He also had incredible imagery within his stories and made sure all details were portrayed efficiently. I think his narration has its own characteristics and is special. That is why I would like to choose him as my author to imitate.
What I am looking forward to using in my essay would be the usage of irony because my story is a story of a horrible customer I had at work with the moral of my story is that "the customer is never right" and that the women in my story will be contrasted before my essay starts compared to other people that I would consider a horrible experience, and contrast any normal customer aginst a high-class entitled mother, also known as a Karen. I have no idea who I will try to imitate as my famous author but I do know my style of writing of heavy description might fit how Homer writes, with a ton of epithets, or write like Douglas Adams, because that's my personal style of humor and that would fit very nicely what I want to flow of the contrast between a horrible customer and a good customer.
I am looking forward to using the imagery in my narration essay because I really like to describe scenes using specific adjectives. I like doing something like "setting the scene" for my writing and I like painting a specific picture for the reader that shows the scene exactly how I picture it myself. I am also looking forward to using examples of irony in my narration because I was pretty young when the story took place, so I would like to use some irony in my writing to show that I didn't have a perfect point of view because I was young. I also think using some suspense in my story will replicate to the reader how I felt about telling my parents about knocking my teeth out, so using some specific language (like how zooming in the camera feels in a scary movie) will create that feeling for the reader.
I am looking forward to using imagery that refers to mythology. I’ve always found mythology (whether it is greek, Egyptian, or anything else) super cool and I really think it gets the point across well. For example, I want to use Hephaestus the god of metalworking and weaponry to allude to a weapon that was used in my story. I think it gets the point across much more effectively compared to not using it. I think it also lets the reader know how you feel. In the story, I compare myself to Hephaestus showing how I felt in the story. It shows my point of view very effectively and draws the reader further into the story. I am not quite sure what author I will use yet but I am considering using Cormac Mccarthy who was the author of The Road. I think my story would be really cool to use in a gritty and rough format like his and could maybe give a different point of view from what I was originally going for.
I am looking forward to using imagery and foreshadowing in my essay. I would like to use these the most in my essay because I want to expand my understanding of the use of imagery and using descriptive words. I think that using imagery in my essay will really help the reader paint an image in their mind and understand the essay more. I also want to expand on foreshadowing in my essay. I love when there is foreshadowing in books because it makes me wonder what is going to happen and I like making predictions and sometimes they are right or wrong. Other literary devices that I don't know much about are allusion and irony. Right now, I am unsure on what author I want to imitate in my essay. But I am excited to use literary devices in my essay and I am looking forward to improving my skills in literary devices.
I am looking forward to using imagery, foreshadowing, and flashbacks in my essay. These three literary devices I am excited to use towards enhancing the detail of my essay. I tend to lean towards a personal writing style filled with imagery. I loved to describe the setting and help set the scene for the rest of my story. As I am writing about my knee surgery it is important for me to use descriptive imagery in my flashbacks to help the reader better understand the setting and leave them wanting to read more. The flashbacks are crucial to helping the reader better understand my thoughts and feelings towards the situation. I am looking forward to using foreshadowing to lead the reader along throughout the essay. This will help the reader to make inferences of their own as to what will happen later in my narration. I haven't decided what author I am going to imitate yet, but have an idea of what qualities I want to imitate. I look forward to imitating an author with a writing style opposing to my own. The more opposing the writing style is, the better! This way I can get a sense of a different style of writing and maybe even find a new style I like!
I am very excited to be using literary devices imagery and setting. These will be very fun to use as my story will be taking place in Europe. I am very good at imagery because I have always loved telling stories about things. I used to describe movies to my mom in such vivid detail that I never actually got around to telling her what the movie was about. It will be very fun to describe the beauty of the swiss alps and the German countryside. Using the setting to describe my story will be very interesting as well. The setting of the revelations that I will be describing in my narratives ties in very nicely with the lessons learned. The people, places, and things that I was around at the time became a huge factor in my story. I will probably be imitating J.K. Rowling in the narrative, as I love her writing, and she uses amazing imagery that weaves a beautiful world around you.
