I am juxtaposing glutenous and gluten-free food. Most people would think these are completely opposite, and in some ways they are. But I am trying to compare the two as strongly as I contrast them. Yes, these foods are very different, yet not in very extreme ways. These foods are usually only one ingredient different. And gluten can hardly be considered an ingredient, because it is a protein within a few major grains like wheat and barley. Many people think of gluten-free food as dry and tasteless, but that is not always so. These foods are a different texture, but it is just one ingredient/protein causing the difference. The sugar, butter, dairy, and such all remain. The same is for taste. Gluten does not add or take away flavor, so the taste is relatively the same. The texture is what throws others off, though they think it is the taste. I am doing my best to take something individuals would think are polar opposite and find comparisons no one would think of.

In some cases, it is easy to compare and contrast two things. Most often than not, the two items are either really similar or extremely different. Digging deep and finding the unheard of similarities and differences can be presented as a challenge. With a partner, I am creating a photo essay comparing and contrasting local and chain businesses. On the surface, these two seem very different. Local businesses are generally smaller, more unique, and more expensive while chains are large, cookie cutter, and cheap. Beneath all of that, these two types of businesses are not that different at all. Both local and chain businesses exist to fill a need in the community and to make money. They both have to consider things like target market, location, and products. Despite the lack of corporate in a local business, local operations still have to abide by state and federal laws. Chain businesses have to follow state and federal guidelines as well. Local businesses and chain stores have some astronomical differences, but they are also more similar than some people may think.

If one were to compare anything they will always be able to find differences and similarities. Contrasting twins to comparing a person to a rock, there's always connections to be made it just depends on how hard you are trying to look. Also with everyone having different ideas and viewpoints on every subject allows for every reader to pick out features others would have never seen before, but they will also have ideas that the author has never thought of as well. In my essay I chose the juxtapose ones outward persona compared to the inward truth. In this I am digging deep into ideas I feel have not been given much thought and the little things people don't notice. Have you ever watched someone's mannerisms change when they are comfortable around someone? How about the way they smile is different depending on the interest of the subject? I have also seen similarities in each of these personas, which at first I thought would be easy because it is the same person. Yet to pinpoint these said "comparisons" was a much more difficult task. If one is trying to impress you, they will more than likely try to hide the things about themselves in which they believe you might disagree with. In the end, if you pay close enough attention to the subject they are masking you can always start to pick out the truth behind it, because if you do get close then they don't want to be caught lying to you. I really enjoyed this idea because I like to divulge into the human mind and figure out why people act the way they do. In the end I believe the readers will not think their is much to contrast about this, but in the end they more than likely have only seen one side to everyone.

My juxtaposition essay compares and contrasts moms and dads. There are some very obvious similarities and differences between the two. For example, they both obviously love you. Although, if you really think about it, there are some differences that quite often go unnoticed. Though these examples may be different for everyone due to the fact that not all parents are the same, a few people will relate. In most cases, depending on who you are, the father is the less strict parent. This is obvious. His perception of money is more than likely a lot looser than the mothers. As you approach your parents for money, I believe it is the best idea to ask your dad. You will most likely be able to squeeze more money out of your father than your mom. Also, if you want to ask your parents to go somewhere with friends, approach your dad. In my experiences, he will be busy with something else not paying attention and haphazardly say yes. This is an easy way to get approval from your parents and keep you out of trouble. There are many ways to contrast between the two parents, but if you look deep within, there is also similarities in many forms.

I am juxtaposing Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy in my essay. You don’t have to be a big fan of the Harry Potter series to know that these two are enemies. Most people would think that these two are very different and don’t have a lot in common. But I want to show that these two are actually way more alike than it appears on the surface. Obviously one of them is good and the other is evil. Harry is known to be kind to all while Draco is a bully. They have different beliefs but they’re actually very alike in some aspects. They both come from wealthy families and play a key role in the downfall or success of Voldemort. At times they can both be arrogant and cocky. And although Draco is seen as an evil villain, there is more to him. I think he is so evil because of his family. If he had been raised in a different way, I think he would be a lot like Harry, not his foil. I want to juxtapose these two so that people will realize that the hero and villain in a story sometimes aren’t that different. And sometimes a villain is not as villainous as he seems.

I am juxtaposing infielders and outfielders. When comparing and contrasting these two general positions, the average person that doesn’t know much about baseball may say that the only difference is that one plays in the outfield and the other in the infield. However, there are many more differences, some may be subtle, like the type of glove they use. Outfielders use a bigger glove for a better chance at catching the ball. Infielders use a smaller glove to be quick and it limits the amount of time the ball is actually in the glove. A similarity infielders and outfielders have is that they both have a “ball-hawk” mentality. For the infielders, this means that for every ground ball that comes in their direction they have the attitude of, “Nothing is going to stop me from making this play.” This goes for the outfielders as well, as they should have the attitude that they are going catch every ball. Outfielders and Infielders are so close to being the same, yet in some areas they vary a lot. Knowing the differences and similarities between both of them will help you better understand the game of baseball.

Comparing and contrasting can seem like an easy, simple thing to do. You take two subjects and spot the big similarities and differences. But digging down deep to find the unheard of or not quite so noticeable comparison and/or contrasts can seem a bit more difficult. I am juxtaposing being the state of dreaming verses being present, awake, and in reality. Obviously, you're asleep when dreaming and awake when you're present in reality. One usually occurs at night and the other in the daytime. But most people don't take into account the function of the brain when sleeping. Thousands of thoughts cross our brain every minute with a rather high percentage going completely unnoticed. The brain still has thoughts producing while sleeping and these thoughts help to produce images in our mind. That is why we can see things/people/events in our dreams. But this doesn't occur just at night, day dreaming is a great example of how are brain can manipulate what we are seeing and our state of awareness almost completely goes away. I'm juxtaposing these too because they really go hand and hand with how we process life and figure out what we truly care about. Why there are some big differences, the meaning behind the unthinkable is most closely related to the not so quite unimaginable.

I am juxtaposing public school and homeschool education. Public school has been very common and homeschooling is growing in popularity. I have had both forms of this education in my life. There are many differences. What many people don’t realize or see are the similarities. For example, the school district and government try to enforce the law that everyone has to have an education. This means that those in public school and those who are homeschooled have to take the same subjects in school, the same tests, and learn the same information. One of the biggest differences between the two is how and where the information is learned. When you talk with homeschool students, you will hear that many of them have a negative view of public school and public school students. This is true the other way too; many public school students do not have a positive view of homeschooling or homeschool students. I am hoping to inform people of the similarities and differences and the importance of each form of education.

I am composing my essay about juxtaposing Tesla electric and Traditional gasoline vehicles. Generally people would think about the environment and carbon emissions as the main reason to choose one over the other, but I have also outlined both in not only the carbon emissions and environment but also how they handle while driving, how they compare when it comes to maintenance, and how they compare when it comes to advantages and disadvantages. People generally assume that you have to be a worldly hippy sort of person to own an electric car when in all reality that is no longer the truth and there are many advantages that people just seem to avoid. The same can be said for those who drive gas cars in the sense that people that drive heavy carbon emitting vehicles are rednecks that don't care about the environment but in all reality neither generalizations are true and there are many things that disprove both of these.

I am comparing and contrasting two boys in my favorite novel, "The Marriage Plot." Mitchell and Leonard, seemingly words apart, really are similar when you break them down to simpler characteristics. I find that all people can have similarities, even if they seem completely different in actions. Mitchell and Leonard are both men of higher education, studying at Brown University, trying to win the heart of Madeleine – the books main protaganist. Although they are studying different things and act completely different, they are similar in little nuanced ways. I feel that showing the similarities as well as the differences in people helps readers to see that even though they may be completely different to someone when they look at them, they are generally looking for the differences. Oftentimes it is more of a natural defense to do so; see what makes you different and stand out from someone else. However, if we look into our similarities as well, I believe that will make for a more unified society.

I am juxtaposing the brass and woodwind sections in band. I talk about how stereotypes and how they affect people, and can’t be used to judge a person. One new feature that changes your perspective about the brass and woodwinds is that the brass section doesn’t have to be rowdy, loud, disrespectful, lazy, etc. Many people group all brass into that description incorrectly. Another new feature that changes your perspective about the brass and woodwinds is that the brass and woodwinds change importance in a song. Most of the time, the brass is the most important section in a band song. They are the foundation. I refer to the pyramid of sound, in which the bottom (the bass instruments) are the most important and the biggest. You can’t have a top of a pyramid without a solid foundation. But, there are some times in a song where the brass isn’t playing. In this scenario, whoever is playing is obviously the most important, because they’re the only ones that are playing.

My juxtaposition within my essay is between boys and girls in teenage relationships. Some of these comparisons may seem obvious but a lot of them stem from stereotypes and assumptions. Within comparisons some people may believe that it is always one or the other when relating to relationships; such as boys cheat more than girls do. However, they do not take into consideration that boys and girls both cheat. One statistic I found that interested me was that both guys and girls "dump" friends for their relationships. With only 32% of guys it was clear that girls "dump" friends more with 51%. Although I still thought this was an interesting relationship problem that both genders shared. While writing this essay i realized that within similarities there can be small differences and within differences there can be small similarities. My readers may not have noticed this trend before but I believe it is something vital in a compare and contrast essay.

My essay is about the seven chakras in the human body and I chose to compare and contrast this topic because anyone I have ever spoke to about chakras thought I was crazy. I try to break them down the easiest for people that aren't familiar with them to understand. It is a block essay first describing them and telling what each one represents and stands for. Then the second block of the essay I talked about what they should mean. By saying what they should mean, I mean it as in what they mean to me and what they stand for me. I found it very hard not using, "I" or "me" on the second block because thats what the whole point of the second part is. Just sitting in the class it is so easy to tell from each person which energy is flowing through there chakras and which ones aren't flowing through the certain chakras that make them act the way they act. For instance, if I say something that I'm thinking and then another kid decides to think well I was gonna think that anyways and then talks about what I was just talking about then there is no energy flowing through his solar plexus chakra because he/she isn't confident enough to say what's on his/her mind. This is so annoying when I notice this but to maintain a balanced life you should probably look into what each chakra means and how to work on them to get energy flowing through all of them.

My essay is about Renaissance and Baroque art. Even though Renaissance and Baroque art follow each other in the history of art they are quite different from each other. Renaissance art is composed into shapes that the characters fit in to make the painting more stable. On the other hand Baroque art uses the line of sight to draw lines in to show what your eyes follow. Renaissance art also tends to have little to no depth within the painting. Baroque art has depth throughout the painting because of the light to dark shadowing within the painting. Other’s may think that since they follow each other in history they would have a lot in common, but it was very hard to think of things that the paintings do have in common. I found that these two styles of art contrast each other in a lot of different ways. Renaissance and Baroque art both became popular in England and they also use biblical characters and themes within their paintings. There are lots of ways to contrast different art time periods, but in the end, Renaissance and Baroque art is art to praise and love.

My essay is juxtaposing Fire Emblem: Awakening and Fire Emblem: Fates. Most people think that video games within a series are identical copies of each other with each new installment just applying a new layer of “paint” on top of the old one. While this may be true with Madden and Call of Duty games the same can not be said with Fire Emblem. Each game is unique from the others with the only main similarity being that they are all tactical RPGs. Awakening and Fates are two of the most recent games in the series and have many similarities and differences between them, most of which people would not notice right away, even if they play the series regularly. In my essay I first talk about how the main protagonists have similar motives and participate in events that are almost interchangeable between the two games. I then go on to talk about how other events in the two storylines are almost identical in the plot development department but just occur at different times in the overall story arch. I then dive into the differences between the game mechanics of the two games and talk about how those changes have large impacts on the strategy you have to implement while playing the game. An example of this is one game makes you watch your money supply and keep track of the resources available to you while the other focuses on stat changes that occur to your characters when you equip one weapon or another to keep them alive on the battlefield. My goal in this is to let readers realize that very similar games can be played very differently on a fundamental level, even if the gameplay mechanics seem to be identical.

The essay I have been composing for the past week and a half is about sunny days and rainy days. Comparing and contrasting the two is quite a challenge for me, but I do enjoy writing this essay to learn more about what I already know. To find the similarities between the two, I have had to think a lot harder than I did by just looking at the obvious differences. The weather outside has a drastic effect on our day to day life. When it is sprinkling all day and you have got all you need to do for the day done, you and your friends want to get together; however, the weather is crappy outside and there is nothing for you guys to go do. When it is sunny, you often forget about all the responsibilities for the day and go outside with your friends to enjoy the weather.

My essay is a juxtaposition between pancakes and waffles. It is interesting to know all of the differences between a pancake and waffle. I have found that there is quite a few differences I was unaware of before writing this essay. It was sometimes a challenge to figure out what I should say in the essay and what topics to differ. There were obvious differences just based on looks. For example, the pancake is round and flat and a waffle has little squares printed on the batter and it is a lot thicker than a pancake. One interesting fact I found was that the waffle uses more sugar in the batter so that caramelization can happen, resulting with a crisp outside and soft inside texture of the waffle. I found that through writing this essay I noticed within the differences of each type, somewhat led to similarities in each and vice versa. I do not think people notice much about pancakes and waffles, let alone the differences and similarities between them, besides the fact that they taste good and will eat them whenever they please. I think my readers will find out more than they knew about pancakes and waffles. I think it is important and will help in deciding between eating a pancake or a waffle.

I am juxtaposing Mondays and Fridays. As we all know, Mondays are typically viewed as a formidable foe that sucks all the life and energy out of you. They can sometimes feel like life is giving you a sucker punch in the face, then telling you that there is no more ice to ease the swell of stress. Fridays are typically seen as the opposite; everyone always says how they are “so glad it’s Friday,” or, “so happy to be done with this week.” In my essay I am trying to highlight not only the stereotypes of Mondays and Fridays, but also how you can make the most out of both days. Why limit your happiness to one day simply because it is traditionally considered a better day? I would like people to find the good in every day, rather than limit themselves to the stereotypes of “Monday blues” and “Fancy Fridays.” In doing this, you will find yourself living life, not observing it!

I am juxtaposing baseball and softball. They both are game where a pitcher pitches a ball to a batter and the object is to get them out. Most people know the main difference between the two is that baseball is usually played with males and softball is usually played with females. They may not know that the style of pitching is way different. Baseball pitches overhand like a normal throw and softball pitches underhand which is called a windmill. Also, the distances that they pitch from is different because since a softball pitcher pitches underhand it is harder to throw faster so they throw from a shorter distance than baseball does. Another big difference is the style of the ball. A baseball is white and 9 inches round and a softball is yellow and 12 inches round. The softball is way bigger so it doesn't travel as far which is why a softball field is smaller than a baseball field.

I am juxtaposing between teenage boys and girls in relationships. Although many may think finding the differences between boys and girls can be easy, most do not know some of the actual details that happen between the two in a relationship. Some teenage relationships can be mature and last a long time, but others are immature and full of lies, only texting and not actually "dating." Some things fall more under the boy in relationship and other things fall under the girl. In doing some research for our essay, Haylee and I read that boys often cheat more than girls, however, this is not always true. Another example is with girls, they tend to remember more of the little things like when and where the first date was. Just because these are stereotypical and what some websites say or what you might see in school does not mean that they are true. Relationship routines are different for everyone and boys and girls act differently, but overall it is about trust and how much you love the other person. I realized that there are many small differences and similiarities and a lot of big ones too.

I am juxtaposing the two comic book series Watchmen and The Justice League. I used the block method and discussed the characteristics of each series. The first few paragraphs discuss the commonplace of the League superheroes and their popularity over the years. I talked about how every hero has an expected back story that lacks detail and harsh reality of the world, and how these heroes have many films and TV shows following their name. The latter paragraphs talk about the comic book series Watchmen Watchmen creators Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons took the superhero mold and tossed it out of their story. Moore wanted his characters damaged, more realistic for young adult readers to understand and in some ways relate to them. "If we only see comics in relation to movies, then the best they'll ever be are films that don't move." Moore claimed the comic book series to be unadaptable for two decades until Zack Snyder attempted to adapt the film in 2008, with slight success. These two series have had impacts on people for years, whether they be the heroes from our childhood or the heroes that we relate to in our teen years.

I am juxtaposing lust and love in a relationship. I chose this because having been in a relationship for 4 years I have a good idea about high school relationships. I want to make it clear to many on what a healthy and not healthy relationships are. Most people do not even know what lust so in my essay I go into detail about what the signs of lust are and how they affect relationships. Also, not many know exactly what love entails. Lust can easily be turned into love. How to do it is for others to figure out on their own. Not many high school relationships last until marriage but I do give a few facts about it in my essay showing that it is possible. Relationships are different for everybody. When you read my essay I hope I give the impression that love is not scary. It is something that everybody should get the chance to be in.

Juxtaposing a toddler to a teenager might seem like a ridiculous and difficult task. I mean, come on, one can drive and the other needs help going to the bathroom. However, children in these two stages of life have more in common than one might assume. Both groups are learning, developing, and experiencing new independence and freedoms. As mentioned before, a new independence for teenagers is learning how to drive, while a new independence for toddlers is learning how to go to the bathroom without help from Mom and Dad. Toddlers and teenagers both also experience extreme changes in their attitudes. A toddler can go from playing with his or her toys to screaming at the top of his or her lungs in no time. We as teenagers can all think of a time when we went from being completely content to losing out temper over a reason that we probably cannot even remember. Along with drastic changes in attitude, toddlers and teenagers both have to learn how to improve their communication skills or else the will be developmentally behind their peers. Looking into the similarities and differences of toddlers and teenagers can improve our understanding of ourselves and those arounds us.

I am juxtaposing football to dance. On the surface, these two could not be any different but there is more similar than you think. Football is obviously the man's sport. It is rough and tough and widely known throughout not only the United States but also the world. Dance is quite the opposite it is one of the most delicate sports you can be a part of and is not even considered a sport by most. Likey football, however, it is widely known due to the fact dance has been around for centuries. But, the competitive world of dance has yet to be appreciated by those without contact to the sport. The competitive world of dance and dance in general is so much more than the costumes and makeup everyone thinks of. It is hard work along with lots and lots of training. The routines are hard and the goal is to make it look easy which is even harder. I mean how many other sports have to make it look easy. Football is also much more than people know, or even if they know they do not take the time to appreciate all that goes in. Both of these sports are choreographed. The plays for football are deliberately created for that specific moment. The routines for dance are also created to compliment each dancer and work seamlessly between them all. Both of these sports are hard and neither of them get full credit.

The comparison and contrast essay that we are doing has a great opportunity to show readers similarities and differences in stuff that they might not have noticed before. The essay I am working on is a photo essay finding the juxtaposition between local and chain businesses. While working on this project, Bethany and I had the chance to interview some store employees about this subject. These inside, true-to-life people brought up points that we didn't even think of or notice when first composing our essay. Now we get to transpose that knowledge to our readers. Some of the things that people may not think of include both both local and chain businesses can develop strong relationships with their co-workers and bosses. Another similarity is that the customer service is mostly the same no matter where you go. Some differences people might not think of at first are that the location of each can affect their profit, as well as the size. The price between them is rather obvious but people might not know why. All of this is included in our essay to help make it more valuable in information, interest, and substance.

Comparing things becomes easy when there are many differences between them, but people may not want to no the differences of things that are already distant from each other. My essay was based on two very similar things; wool sweaters, and hooded sweatshirts. Because these are very similar to each other I had to find minute differences in each and overly explain them. I used their differences in what they can be used for because there can be a lot written about this. A more secluded difference in these coats is what they say about you and your personality. This may be something that nobody has noticed, but the type of clothing that you choose to make you warm influences and describes how you act. A small difference that may go overlooked is what each article of clothing has as a design. Hoodies can have logos or sports teams, while a sweater can only have patterns and figures. Both have the same basic functions and the main purpose of keeping you warm.

I am juxtaposing the differences and similarities between a house and a home. Many people do not know that there is, in fact, many differences between the two. These differences include whether or not the structure is inhabited, the type of atmosphere between the people interacting inside it, and overall, how things are accomplished. I feel that it is especially important for teenagers to understand the differences between the 2 because we will be eventually creating a family, which in turn, means we essentially will have to choose the type of environment our future kids will grow up in. We all are affected by the environment that we grow up in, so it is important that we all understand the differences so that we can make an environment that can set up our kids for success, just as our loved ones have done for us.

I am comparing and contrasting six string guitars and bass string guitars. One of the most notable discoveries my readers may make while perusing my work is the fact that each string on both the guitars is essentially its own keyboard. The frets, or the lines going across all up the neck, each represent a note similar to the keys of a piano. Guitarists create the same types of chords with the strings as pianists do. Another revelation they may take away is the different types of bodies that guitars can come with. Solid bodies are the most common and only have hollow spot in the guitar to allow for the wiring. Hollow bodies are nearly completely hollow, but still have the electronics to make it an electric guitar rather than an acoustic guitar. Semi-hollow bodies are in the middle ground. Usually they have a solid bar of wood through the middle of the body, and then the sides are hollow. The different types of bodies are used chiefly to affect the tone of the guitar.

For my Compare-Contrast Essay, I am juxtaposing classical and jazz music. Loving and actively practicing both genres of music, i’ll admit that it is easy to think of these two music styles as completely separate. This is true to a certain extent in that things like rhythm and approach are much different between jazz and classical music. More often than not, these two music genres are often times viewed as completely non-relational. However, jazz music would not be around if it weren’t from the influence of classical music. The song “Rhapsody in Blue” is a perfect example of the influences each of these genres have on each other. The composer George Gershwin, who is a classically trained piano player and songwriter, wrote the tune for a 23 piece Jazz band. Since he was trained classically, he didn’t have much experience writing jazz. The piece became incredibly famous and brought along new perceptions and approaches to jazz. In the same way, Jazz has influenced classical music over the years with the incorporation of blues and swing.

There are a few interesting features, I believe, in my essay that some may find interesting or may not have seen right away. The first thing someone may notice in my essay is the introduction and the description of someone’s dream. What people may not notice right away is that when describing the dream, I tend to personify the different aspects of the dream such as when I say the breeze has a goal. While personifying this first sentence I foreshadowed the future discussion of goals when I gave the quiet breeze a goal. Another thing I find interesting in my essay is the fact that I try to describe the two different types of dreaming at the same time. I talk about how both dreams while sleeping and life goals are very important in everyone’s lives. I also like to use vivid detail throughout the essay to explain and delineate the different dreams many people have.

In my juxtaposition essay I am comparing movies and books. For many people it doesn’t even take them a second to decide which they like more. In my essay, I am thinking past the obvious differences between the two that people probably didn’t think about. Such as how when reading a book you need light to see it but when watching a movie, the screen lights itself up. My goal is to make people want to read a book or watch a movie after reading my essay. Also, my essay will make them think twice about which is the better version. I am pointing out the things that happen to you and the connections you make with the story when watching a movie or reading a book. For example, the connections you make with characters in a book are much different then connections made with characters in a movie. If you don’t understand why, read my essay and that will clear things up for you.

I am juxtaposing micro sprints and 410 sprint cars. People that know nothing about racing or cars would assume that the micro sprint is just a tiny version of the 410 sprint car. When in reality they may both be sprint cars and love racing, but have a lot of differences. They have the same design principles, but size wise are world apart. I would assume most people would be able to tell this from just looking at the two cars. I talk about in my essay the difference in the engines, which could not be more opposite. The micro engine comes out of a motorcycle and is electronically controlled. The 410 sprint car is a 410 cubic inch motor that is manually controlled. The money difference is absurd. It is like homeless person compared to Bill Gates. Not just the race cars themselves but trailers and parts too. Someone could hear the difference between the two, but would probably never know what the motor is or how it is runs. So if you wanna learn these this read my bomb dot com essay!

I am comparing and contrasting military families and nonmilitary families. I am trying to show many different aspects rather than the obvious differences. I have talked about how the american dream is different for both types of families because the military families face a few more obstacles than the nonmilitary families. They also can not do little things like decorate their houses exactly how they might want because they move often. Children's school lives are different because they have to move to so many new schools. This also means that they will end up having a different set of people skills. Military children also have to deal with a great deal of stress when their parents are deployed, and how that affects them. Nonmilitary families also have the luxury of being close to other family who stay in the same area as them. It has been difficult to find differences that are not necessarily known, but breaking them down to a further level so it still makes the readers think deeper about the differences.

In comparison-contrast essays, it may be easy to find similarities or differences, but not both. Looking into your subject and finding similarities or differences that may not have been thought of before is an important aspect of this essay. For example, my essay is about the differences and similarities between books and movies. Finding differences was the easy part but incorporating similarities was quite difficult. Finding the obscure similarities and differences can help the reader understand the relationship between the two categories better. The pattern of compare and contrast essay is also something that people usually do not take notice of. In my opinion, using the block organization, the last category is more prominent in a reader’s mind, while the alternating helps the reader remember both equally. Picking a subject is also an important aspect. An interesting topic to many readers will lead to stronger feelings and more positive response towards your essay.

I am juxtaposing the two types of happiness, material and nonmaterial. The common opinion of these two would be that they are polar opposites; however, they have many similarities. In my essay I am trying to equally show how different and similar they are. These two types of happiness can be very similar in their frequency. For example, the joy that comes from something material can happen at any time just like something of nonmaterial happiness. The most common difference between material and nonmaterial happiness are their sources. Material happiness comes from something that can be bought and nonmaterial happiness cannot. Nonmaterial happiness can come from the smaller things in life and typically gives you more joy because of the deeper felt emotion it leaves with you. For example, seeing someone that you have not seen in awhile would be nonmaterial happiness. Knowing the similarities and differences between these two types of happiness will help you better understand what joy you are experiencing.

The Comparison-Contrast essay that I have been working on for about the past week is the difference between camping in the woods or going on a cruise. Just as the titles say they are very different from one another. But they are also similar in some ways. Either vacation you get to spend time with family and friends and do the things you enjoy. Each one of them, however, comes with very different activities you can do as a family together. The cost is also very different. If you are on a low budget but want to enjoy a weekend away, camping is perfect. But if you have more money to spend then a cruise is the way to go. Everyone likes to do different things when it comes to spending their free time, and hopefully my essay will help the reader decide which perfect getaway they would prefer better.

In my essay I am juxtaposing two character from my favorite show. Brothers, Nathan and Lucas Scott from One Tree Hill. People often think that siblings are similar just because they are related or because they lived together. However, I learned while composing this essay that siblings can be very different even though they are related. I decided to compare and contrast these two because they are closely linked to each other in the show. Since they are brothers many people compare them to each other but when looking from afar there are not many differences besides how they look. When you dig down into the story you can find many things about the two that are similar but also very different. For example a similarity is that Nathan and Lucas both play basketball but what I found that was not similar is that they play basketball for different reasons. Nathan’s original reason was for fame and Lucas’s was simply because he enjoyed the game.

The essay I am composing is comparing and contrasting books and movies. I am discussing the pros and cons of both mediums, and the differences and similarities. For example, some of the things I am covering is the kind of people that prefer either books or movies, and what those people's interests may be. For those who prefer reading, being able to envision a setting and what you think the characters look like is important, and because there can be a lot more detail in books, many prefer these over movies. Reversely, avid movie fans value the intricacy of adding special effects, actors, and music to a story to make it more powerful. Some would think it is difficult to compare the two, but they both tell stories that are meant to evoke emotion, and oftentimes people are fans of both. By the end of the essay, I want people to understand the pros and cons of both, and possibly pick a favorite.

In the essay that Megan and I are writing, we are juxtaposing the sports of football and volleyball. Rather than comparing them based solely on the way they are played, we are trying to get deeper into the players idiosyncrasies on and off of their respective locations of play. This portion of our essay has been very easy to write because Megan and I get to experience these sports everyday. I found it very interesting how similar both sports are in the aspect of how the players act even though they are played totally different. Both sports require players to stay mentally tough and physically fit. One thing that I think many people will be surprised about in our essay is how much physical beating volleyball players actually go through. They dive for the ball, get drilled in the face, and run full speed into each other without getting anytime to brace themselves! I hope that our essay will open up peoples eyes to how similar both sports are in mental and physical toughness.

In our compare and contrast essay, Braiden and I are juxtaposing volleyball and football. The main differences in these two sports in our school is that one is played by girls and the other is played by boys. Football involves more equipment and more physical contact than volleyball does. They also play less games than volleyball. These are common differences that most people are aware of, but we are trying to show in our essay that there are also similarities in the two sports. They are both team sports that need leadership and motivation, which can be brought by team captains or coaches. Although different types, injuries can occur in both sports which can cause players to be found in the athletic trainer's room. Mental attitudes are also very important in both sports. You must stay focused on the game whether the other team scores a touchdown or wins a set. While writing this essay, we have realized that there are many noticeable differences in volleyball and football, but there are also many hidden similarities.

I am juxtaposing rap and country music. These two genres are obviously very different in both their respected ways, so it will be a challenge to find multiple similarities. A lot of people think that the words "rap" and "country" should not even be in the same sentence. My main goal of this essay is to explain how two very different types of music, that stand for totally different things, have different values, and very different audiences, can have similarities whether it is the lyrics or the concerts or even how the artists dress and act towards people. Hopefully at the end of this essay, people who claim to hate rap music will give it a chance or at least garner some respect for the genre. Same goes for people who claim to hate country music. No music deserves to be hated; music deserves to be understood. If you want to learn about the rap and country music scenes read my essay!

In my essay I am juxtaposing the differences between marijuana and other dangerous drugs. We currently live in a word where the use of drugs is extremely common and everywhere around us. Im sure we could all name numerous people that we know abuse these substances. I chose to write this essay to inform others of the potential dangers between the two. When I think of drugs, I immediately think of the hard stuff such as meth, crack, cocaine, heroin, etc. I do not necessarily think of marijuana right away, since it is not exactly a scary or deadly drug. Im sure others than just me think the same. Just because marijuana is not deadly, does not mean it is harmless, and people seem to forget that. Many millennials use marijuana and do not think twice about the repercussions from using it, they do not think of the potential dangerous because they think marijuana is harmless - it is not. So in my essay I am comparing and contrasting the similarities and differences between marijuana and other dangerous drugs to inform readers about dangers they may not have known before, and spread awareness about these drugs.

I am juxtaposing teenagers and toddlers. These two ages have a lot of differences but they also have a lot in common then you would think. The main difference between these ages is of course their maturity as well as their age. Teenagers are more independent than a toddler would be. Teenagers are out hanging with their friends at a football, while the toddlers are at home nagging the parents to play with them. But unlike a teenager, who helps around the house, a toddler is very helpful in keeping the parents young and active. The most common similarity is both are very messy. Teenagers have a messy room and a messy car from carrying everything around like gym bags, water bottles, and snacks wrappers in the back seat. Toddlers, on the other hand, are messy eaters. They could care less about a clean high chair because playing with their food is much more fun. I think it will open student's eyes that the terrible twos can turn into the terrible teens. Even though, we differ in age, we have one common goal: make the parents happy because if you can make the parents happy the whole household will be happy.

I am juxtaposing the seasons of autumn and fall. When first thinking about these two metaphorical seasons, you seem to pick out all of the differences. I will say that these differences are a big part of my essay, but I am also trying to compare them in a way that most might not necessarily think of. Some of the topics that I am comparing and contrasting are quite simple, like weather patterns, the beautiful changes, activities, and experiences, but I am also trying to analyze outside of what most people would see and think of. Detail and vivid descriptions are both things that I think that I am fairly good at, so I am trying to put these types of elements in my essay to make the experience of reading it more enjoyable. Some people wonder why autumn and spring both appeal to them so much even though they are very much opposites, but it is because they are so similar in many aspects. Writing a five page paper about only two things can be a daunting task and this is why I am having to search deeper into the similarities and differences of these two beautiful seasons.

In my essay I am comparing different types of pole vaulters. To the average person, when they see a pole vaulter they think that we are all the same. Athletic, fearless, and crazy. That is not necessarily case, however. You can break down pole vaulters into two main categories, those who fly high, and those who think they do. I compare and contrast the different traits that a vaulter most likely has to fall into each of these categories. For example, a high flying vaulter has a great work ethic, passion driving them, focused, and most importantly humble. They also put on a show on vault days going over amazingly high bars. On the other end of the spectrum there are vaulters that think they fly high; however, there is a huge difference. Some distinct traits of these vaulters is that they are lazy, careless, easily distracted, cocky, and anything but humble. They also put on a show on jump day, but not in the air. Their show comes on the sidelines talking themselves up to people bragging about this huge height that they are supposedly to get. After reading my essay you will be able to see the differences between the types of pole vaulters and be able to tell who is who without even seeing them jump.

My juxtaposition essay is comparing and contrasting Apple and Microsoft. These two companies have been paving the way for technology for years. They differ in tech, ideas, and founders. For example, while the Apple iPad is incredibly successful, Microsoft created a touch screen portable tablet first. This can be surprising as Apple is first at many other things. I think looking at the similarities and differences can give readers a new perspective. Another aspect to think about is how these tech companies have changed design and animation. Pixar collaborated with Steve Jobs to create Toy Story, an incredibly successful animated film. These companies are also very good at marketing and their “image”. The work and strategy of everything from the look and layout of their stores to the next commercial is carefully thought out. The goal of my essay is to give readers a look into two mega companies and what makes them the same and unique.

In my paper, I am juxtaposing baseball and softball. When comparing and contrasting these two sports, many people do not know there is much different about them. Some of the differences are subtle including the different types of bats like wood and composite. Other differences that change the rules of the game are the size of the ball, length of the bases, the length of the fences, and the length of the game- nine innings and seven innings. The main difference between baseball and softball is the style of pitching. In softball the pitcher pitches the ball underhand which is known as the windmill; while in baseball the pitcher pitches the ball over hand like how every player throws the ball. Although, some aspects about both games are the same. In both baseball and softball the runs count as the same, all players wear metal cleats, and the concept of the game is similar. After reading my paper you will be able to know the differences between baseball and softball.

I am juxtaposing big and tiny houses. There are many factors to become aware of and consider when you are picking out a certain house to call home. Off the top of their head, most people just think that the contrast between big and tiny homes are their sizes are the only things that make them different. They are wrong. When deciding which type of house you would like to own, you need to consider many characteristics. Maintenance, for example, is a huge part of owning a larger home. A lot more maintenance is going to need to be done due to the increase in square footage. You also should think about the size of family you would like. In a tiny home, not much room for a big family is available. However, if a big family is important to you, a larger home would be more practical. Lastly, a key factor in choosing a home is the price. Many families will resort to a smaller sized home because of such a low price, leaving them with more money to do other activities they love. Such as traveling. Juxtaposing to notice the difference can help you when you are deciding what you would like to call home.

For my essay I am comparing and contrasting childhood and adulthood. It is obvious that they are many differences between how children live their lives and how adults do, however, if you look closely you can find things that you generally would not think of. The mindset of children tend to be more optimistic in comparison to adults. Children are so resilient when it comes struggles and hardships. Yes any negative situation will affect them for a little while, but it seems that they can always cheer themselves up in a relatively short amount of time. Adults on the other hand seem to dwell on the negative and have more pessimistic views on life. Once something bad happens it is much harder for them to simply move on. This leads to adults usually having a more negative view on life in general. Adults tend to see many aspects of life as more of a chore than anything else. Children on the other hand, seem to truly appreciate life for the gift that it is. Whether this makes them naive or not, it is an interesting thing to observe when you have the opportunity.

For my Comparison-Contrast essay, I am juxtaposing actors and technicians in theatre. There are obvious differences, such as the actors perform onstage and the technicians stay backstage. Even though the obvious differences are valid, I tried to explore some differences other than the obvious. One way I did this is by looking at the characteristics that make actors and technicians unique. I explain how actors are very boisterous. They have as much energy at practice as they do performing. You will likely find actors leaping to and fro, and more often than not, you will hear actors before you see them. Everything about actors is larger than life, from their gestures to the way they talk. As silly as they are, actors can be serious for periods of time. Their love for theatre forces them to focus. Out of that focus comes the hard work that brings a show together. If actors are flamboyant, than technicians are the exact opposite. Technicians tend to be quiet and more subdued. Often, they are more thoughtful than actors and always seems to be busy. Technicians are the organized powerhouse that keeps the show from falling apart. They don't attract a lot of attention with their gestures and voice like the actors, but they should be listened to. As frustrated as they become with actors, their love for theatre gives them the patience to persevere. Technicians are the perfect personality to balance out the actors and help make the show a success.

While writing a comparison/contrasting paper, new realizations will turn up to the readers, things that they had never thought about before. For people that do not observe wildlife closely, some things I am writing about will shock them. For example, deer shedding their antlers in the winter, many people will know this, but someone that grew up in the city and never looked at deer closely would have never known that. Also, a new realization for some could be that a buck's territory could double or even triple during the peak of rut when he is out searching for many does. Furthermore with ducks, their molting could be new to many, people would just assume that do not see any drakes in the summer or that they look the same, but in reality the drakes just grow different colors for different times of the season. Also the place where ducks go to live in the winter, the Mississippi Alluvial Valley. Some might have known all of this but others might have know none of this, this is why comparison and contrasting papers are good to inform readers of new thoughts and happenings.

For my essay I am juxtaposing the dangers of anorexia nervosa and obesity. Upon first glance the two diseases seem extremely different from each other, but upon a much closer inspection the similarities can be easily seen. When I began to research both topics to write my essay I thought that I was going to have a difficult time comparing them because I anticipated very few similarities. After researching, and writing, I have discovered that both illnesses have incredibly high mortality rates without treatment. Also, there have been many organizations that raise awareness, for both anorexia nervosa and obesity, and try to prevent the quickly growing worldwide epidemics. I learned that obesity has been recognized as a disease longer than anorexia nervosa has been. I have also learned that the illnesses have been prominent for a lot longer than I anticipated. Before writing this essay I did not realize how similar the treatment options are for the two diseases. Both obesity and anorexia nervosa treatment include becoming educated on proper nutrition, and behavioral therapy or pharmacotherapy. The most obvious difference between anorexia nervosa and obesity is the causes of death for individuals battling the disease. Anorexia nervosa is considered to be a cause of death, but obesity is not. Instead, heart disease caused by obesity is the most common cause of death for individuals with obesity.

In my essay I am juxtaposing inner and outer beauty. These two forms of beauty are often portrayed in a negative way but both do have positive aspects that we need to look in as well. Outer beauty is typically the first thing people will look at, but inner beauty is even more important to a person. However you choose to show your outer beauty, is directly reflected from the inner beauty. In reality, people tend to praise and focus on how perfect a person is on the outside, this is not usually the case with inner beauty. Both of these types will work together to form the person you are. Just because someone's outer appearance is gorgeous, doesn't mean that it is the same for the inside. This works the other way around as well. Through my own knowledge and research, I have learned the different ways social media and society give positive and negative feedback towards each form of beauty. I am surprised that I was able to find so many similarities and differences between the two and I think that it is important to understand how each relate to one another.

I am juxtaposing poverty and wealth. Many people believe that these two parties are obviously different, but there are some similarities that people may not notice. Such as they both have a purpose. Whether that purpose is to maintain the existing structure in ways that most benefit you or whether that function is to ensure that the next generation receives fortune. They are also both generational. Telling their children how to live with or without wealth. Poverty and wealth are still very different. The wealthy have more power than the poor. Poor also seem to be more grateful in some aspects. I chose to do this topic because I believe it is very important to understand both sides. People tend to be quite judgmental when it comes to wealth and poverty. Many believe that wealth comes to those who work—leading many people to blame the poor for their poverty. On the other hand, sympathy for the poor (and possibly envy of the wealthy) leads others to blame the wealthy for poverty, judging them too selfish and unsympathetic to help the poor.

I am juxtaposing city and country lifestyles. Everyone has their preference on the big city hustle or simple country style living, but they differ vastly in many obvious and subtle ways. In addition to the obvious differences like traffic, pollution, and noise. The city and country lifestyles are very similar such as routine, sense of community, and shared values. City lifestyle is convenient with easy access to transportation, food, stores, and entertainment. Additionally, there is more opportunities for education and jobs. The city life is a busy, energetic, and active lifestyle making convenience a priority. In contrast, the country lifestyle is calm, pure, and peaceful with fewer buildings, minimum traffic and less people cluttering the area giving a sense of freedom and tranquility. Country lifestyle has many exciting and thrilling activities to participate in such as four wheeling, biking, hiking, and fishing. As can be seen there are many similarities and differences among the city and country lifestyle.

The two topics that I am juxtaposing for my essay is books and movies. Many people can say that the two have nothing to do with each other due to one being hard print and the other being projected on a screen. However, they do share quite a few similarities with the main factor being the creativity or imagination behind the creation of both. Both movies and books do take much time for thought to go into how one should be made and how to be produced to open the reader/audience’s attention due to how they create them. Where books a reader reads one and while doing so they are imagining how a book is portrayed by how they perceive the book through the details and setting it contains. Movies gain an audience's attention due to them questioning why such actions are taken throughout the movie and the possible actions of characters that could have caused the movie to go in a completely different direction with many scenarios to be made.

In most cases it is fairly easy to compare and contrast two objects. Although some items are more similar or different than others, you will always be able to find something to connecting the two. The hardest part about this is finding the similarities and differences that are hidden under the basic ones. For my essay, I chose to juxtapose students who are in activities and students who are not. Externally, these two types of students do not seem very different at all. When I took a closer look, though, I realized there are many differences that most people do not realize. The activity level of a student affects things such as their physical and mental health, who they are friends with, what they do to further their education, and even their grades and attention span in school. Most of these things people would never consider to connect to school activity levels, but they seem to play a big role in the student’s lives.

In some cases, it seems to be fairly simple to compare and contrast two different objects; but in other cases, it can be a mental challenge to search for similarities and differences between two objects. The difficult part of a comparison essay is that the composer is challenged to compare and contrast items that are unique and items that aren't easy to compare and contrast. For my essay, I chose to juxtapose the health benefits of coffee and tea. When attempting to find a topic to write about, I looked to the right of my marvelous school computer and saw my thermos of green tea. It was at random impluse that I decided to write about these two drinks, and at first glance, it seemed to be a simple topic to write about. I was under the impression that the two drinks that I consume the most would be easy to juxtapose. As I dug deeper into my composition topics, I realized that some intense research had to be done in order to find similiarities and differences about the health benefits of coffee and tea. Both drinks have a number of benefits that aid the consumer's health, which most people would not think of when they go to their local coffee shop or cafe. When an individual is aware of the benefits and detriments that these drinks can have to their health, it might spark their interest to think about what they are putting in their bodies and how it can affect them.

In my essay, I am juxtaposing art and mathematics. Depending on your experiences with the two subjects, the differences and similarities may be obvious or less clear. I am comparing and contrasting the two subjects by looking at different aspects of them. The aspects that I discuss are include qualities inherent to the two subjects and how people have used art and math throughout human history. Readers may not have noticed how many similarities exist between the two subjects. Participation in both requires creative thinking, and although much less rigid regarding art and design, rules play a role in both subjects. Another similarity is how art and math are used by people. Both are used as a way to view our world, either through a more analytical lens or through a more human, emotional lens. Both are also used to uphold systems of control. Looking at how the two subjects are similar and different, and how they relate to each other, may encourage more appreciation or interest in the intersections of different subjects.

In my essay I am comparing and contrasting two characters, Peyton Sawyer and Brooke Davis, from the show, One Tree Hill. These two are best friends who have grown up together and gone through many ups and downs. They share many common interests but also have different things that make them unique from each other. Both participate in cheerleading and have an infatuations with basketball boys. A good example of how Peyton and Brooke are the same yet different is their childhoods. Their backgrounds are very different yet share a common theme. Brooke was raised in a wealthy household by parents who didn't pay much attention to her, leaving her craving for their love and affection. Peyton basically raises herself because her mother dies when Peyton is young and her dad's job takes him away from home for long periods of time. Being left alone in a big house causes Peyton to feel pretty alone at times. Both friends deal with loneliness due to the circumstances of their childhoods.

In my essay, I am juxtaposing friends and family. Even though, sometimes friends and family can be clouded into one category there are still some differences and similarities that you might not think of. The main difference between friends and family is that friends typically don’t live with you and family members do live in your house, with the exception of older siblings who have moved out. Even though, in some cases this can be false due to other circumstances, a friend might live with you. Another difference that I put into my essay is friends don’t usually spend holidays with you. When you go away for the holidays, you typically spend it with your immediate and extended family members. Another aspect that I incorporated into my essay is having a balance between spending time with your family and your friends. Some similarities between the two include spending time and hanging out with both and also, sometimes friends can be as close with you as a family member is.

I am creating an essay juxtaposing drugstore and higher end makeup. Most the time people do not realize the fact that there are similarities between the two ends, they just notice the price tag. I am looking specifically at how the packaging looks, how good it is for skin and if there is a good enough pay out. Most the time I think people who are not into make up just over look some of these details, especially how good it is for your skin. How it is for your skin plays a huge factor on how it makes you feel and how it leaves your skin feeling. Another aspect is, how long it takes you to do your makeup at both ends, high end makeup usually blends out a little faster while low end does not. There are also many other important details that I feel like most people do not pay attention to or even think about.

I am juxtaposing the similarities and differences between Movies and TV shows. While there are obvious comparisons like they are both forms of entertainment and both displayed on a screen, they also have similar funding. Funding can be a quality of both that is a similarity and a difference at the same time. Movies and TV can both receive a high amount of funding. So then TV shows should have the same quality, right? No. TV shows have to stretch their funding to last over many episodes rather than a 2-3 hour movie. Movies can condense all of their funding to a shorter amount of time so the quality of that small time is better. TV shows also have to stretch their funding when it comes to actors. TV shows generally have a larger cast than a movie due to the show's duration per season. Again, movies are condensed, so the fewer actors can be more talented than the ones on the TV show.

I am juxtaposing dine-in restaurants and fast-food restaurants. These two restaurant types are similar, but also show many differences. These two have similarities and differences in quickness of food getting out, service, cost, and quality of the food. The quickness is different because dine-in restaurants you are supposed to take your time when you eat, but fast-food restaurants are purposely fast. Service can be someone somewhat the same. They both have one person waiting on you, but the dine-in server will concentrate their time on you to make sure you have the best experience at their restaurant. The cost of a dine-in restaurant will more than likely be more expensive than a fast-food place. The quality can be the same in both, but normally since the dine-in restaurants take their time on the food, it should come out better than the fast-food. As you can see there are many differences and similarities between the two.

Writing a compare and contrast essay may seem simple as can be. It is easy to contrast two items when they are different, but a truly skilled writer will be able to find as many comparisons as they can contrasts. This doesn’t mean just recognizing they both fall under the same category or behave similarly; this means, on a deeper level, these two objects are one in the same, almost identical. The job of the author is to convince the audience that although these objects are not technically the same, they virtually are because they have numerous similarities. I am juxtaposing parents and grandparents. I good writer would mention how they are both humans, adults, and raise children. However, a great writer will go into depth about the emotions they feel for their kids safety, their daily work life, and the struggles they may face for spending time with their family. I am even considering writing a paragraph about a child’s opinion of parents versus grandparents to even more clearly demonstrate that, although they are separate entities, in the eyes of a child there is no difference. Parents and grandparents are both a loving, family figure that is there to care, support and protect a child in all they do.

I have also compared the two careers to see what the best fit for me would be so I wanted to pick a topic that, learning more information about, would be beneficial to me. In my essay I compare the length of schooling it takes to achieve a license in the two fields. I also wrote about how they are both specific gender dominated fields. The gap between male and female doctors is closing but there are still two male doctors for every female doctor. On the other end there are seven female nurses for every male nurse. Lastly, I wrote about the differences in the amount of hours they work and the difference of the potential for lawsuits. However, it is evident that they share a synonymous end goal which is to treat the patient in the most effective, yet comforting way possible.

I am currently juxtaposing the similar and different traits of League of Legends and traditional televised sports. To compare and contrast these two would be seen as simple by the general public. A video game being anything like the beloved football or baseball? Information in the field of League of Legends is not vastly understood by people who have never played or seen the game before, making it hard to understand the complexity of the game. To have the ability to compare and contrast two phenomenon, you have to be able to see the small, unseen details that lie inside of them. The fans for both League of Legends and traditional sports are greatly the same. They love the game and will cheer to the death for their teams. The ability to go deeper when comparing or contrasting brings out the greatest similarities or differences between two things. Beneath the surface truly lies the greatest details of a subject.

I am juxtaposing Christianity against Atheism. Although they are, in fact, complete opposites, I have found a few ways in which they are similar that some people tend to forget. Both groups are people, trying to live morally and take care of their families. They love their kids and their spouses and their overall biology is what brings them together. They are total opposites in so many ways that we forget the similarities between the two groups. However, they are still radically different and have different opinions on themselves and others. I have found that often Christians will find Atheists immoral while Atheists may find Christians to be pushy and ignorant to the world. These are wildly bold accusations at either group and many people may have harsh feelings because of it. In my essay, I have been comparing these two groups as objectively as possible, trying to find a new difference or similarity between the two.

I am juxtaposing DNA and experiences and the ways that they shape people. For many years, people have argued about whether human are a work of nurture or nature. I am writing about how they both shape who, how, and why a person is. DNA is a tangible, powerful macromolecule that gives humans the ability to live and have life. Experiences are intangible, powerful happenings within our lives that define lives and give life its meaning. Unable to exist without the other, they are reliant upon each other just as people are a work of psychology and physiology. I use the example of Frankenstein, who became a fiend because of unfortunate circumstances surrounding his upbringing, to show how experiences shape who a person is. I use the example of "criminal genes" to show how DNA too can be the reason someone turns out how they do. Both each determine why, who, and how a person is–although in different ways.

In my essay, I am juxtaposing movies and books. There are many pros and cons to both, and they're are similar in ways. I am specifically looking at the purpose of the two, the usefulness, and the pros and cons of books that become movies. Generally, movies are made to make money and it is easier to achieve a profit from a movie, whereas writing a book it is harder to receive a return profit because the novel industry is very competitive. They are both useful in their own ways; movies give you the chance to see what is going on and hear the dialog of the characters, but with a book you must read everything and you get the chance to use your imagination. The purpose of a movie and a book is essentially to entertain, but a book can be entertainment for days while a book only last a few hours. As you can see there are similarities and differences between movies and books.

I am juxtaposing league of legends and traditional televised sports. Most comparison/contrast essays are fairly straight forward, talking about the big obvious differences and elaborating on them. In our essay (Jacob and I), we have set out to find the more obscure and unconventional reasons as to why these to things are similar or different. Most people think that the two games are very different. They are, but what most people dont realize is how similar they actually are as well. We pull apart the social structure, the season, and the broadcasting among other topics to prove how familiar eSports really is. This is a very interesting topic because of how quickly eSports is growing in the entertainment field. Most sports fans think eSports is its won entity that just hangs out on the internet but that just isn't the case. It is almost fully integrated into the mainstream sports entertainment world.

In my essay I am currently juxtaposing life in France versus life in America. Comparing these two countries would seem easy but it has been difficult to come up with as many similarities as differences. A vast majority of what I have been writing about have been differences. By using some of the more interesting details that I may not have thought about right away my essay has become much more interesting. I have become more aware of many interesting facts that exist in both countries. The more I add to my essay the better comparisons and contrasts I find. Both countries although very different can provide you with many new experiences as well as new ways of having the same experiences. An example where I used an interesting difference was when comparing how you greet someone in both countries. The way you greet people in each country is drastically different. When in France you will often be greeted by someone by a kiss on the cheek whereas in America you will often times great someone with a handshake if you don't know them will.

When you tell people to compare or contrast two things the majority of them will start listing off obvious ones that almost everyone thinks about. Most people usually don’t take the time to really look at two things and look for the small differences and similarities between the two. For example, in my essay I’m juxtaposing passive students and active students. If I asked most people to tell me some similarities and differences between the two I’d probably get some sarcastic answers like ones active and ones passive or one participates in class and one doesn’t. Most people would think that these types are very different but what they don’t realize is that they are quite similar in how they approach their education it just looks very different. I’m trying to show that just because the active student might look like they are paying more attention because their eyes are always transfixed on the teacher while the passive student lets their eyes roam it doesn’t mean that they are. Even though passive students eyes are roaming they are still paying just as much attention as the active students it just looks like they aren’t. In my essay I am trying to show that even though two things mak look different they can still be quite similar.

I am actually doing a photo essay about the differences between single and two parent households. A lot of people might be surprised at even the small differences there are. For example the amount of tools in your garage. In most cases, especially here in South Dakota, people’s fathers tend to have a fair amount of tools regardless of their use. However in a home with a single mother you might find a couple screwdrivers and a hammer. Perhaps even a small toolbox may be found. Another difference is just how children spend their time. With only one parent most kids develop strong bonds with their siblings and often spend most of their time together. Meanwhile, kids learn to be independent and find things to do on their own. Kids must also learn to make friends for company on their own. Other small things need to be learned on your own as a child in a single parent household. Some boys who grow up without a father are never even taught how to shave.

I am juxtaposing two different positions on a football team in my essay. The positions are offensive linemen and wide receivers. I picked this topic because I have lots of knowledge on the subjects. My essay is written in alternating form which means that it goes back and forth on the topics comparing and contrasting them. One new feature that readers may have never noticed before might be the incredible detail that is almost hitting your emotions. In my essay I include this by talking about the determination and grit both positions have to play the sport. It is harder to incorporate this but it is definitely worth it if possible. Another feature would simply be just different grammatical classification. Nobody wants to read something that is only composed of simple sentences because that would be boring. This is often noticed but it is definitely there. Using compound and compound-complex sentences are a great thing to have to mix things up. I used these to contrast the different skills needed for the positions.

In my comparison and contrast essay, I have stated clear factors that I have noticed many things from my experiences with track and field. Many team mates have been observed through my six-years of experience on the Brandon Valley Track and Field team. Especially, I have ran short and long distance races. I have noticed and broken down the clear physical juxtaposition including the muscular built body of a sprinter versus a slender lanky body of a long-distance runner. The runners' attire is a low-key difference between the two types. Sprinters care about their outfits, where as long-distance runners focus on how to stay cool or warm. Some might think a runner's training is all the same, however both types of runners require different workouts. This enhances their specific muscle groups that contributes to their event. The mindset of runners is an uncommon nuance. They must prepare themselves with mindsets to fit their event, adding to the focus when they compete. A similarity between the runners is the same dream. No matter how long the race is, how fast it is ran in, or what place the runner got the team has the same dream. All the members want the other to succeed. This helps the team points for conference and state meets to end on top.

I am juxtaposing male and female friends. When contrasting these two, there are many obvious ways they are different. However, when taking a closer look, there are more similarities than you would think. Because it is a comparison-contrast essay, I am trying to compare them just as much as I contrast them. My three main factors are the way each acts, benefits of the friendship, and what each looks for in a friend. Although demeanor is a common thing that could've easily been pointed out, the details of each paragraph are much more specific. Male friends are laid-back and less drama. I thought it was important to show how they were not very dramatic, and how that will also benefit you by not having to worry about problems or stress in the friendship. Because girls are stereotyped into being dramatic, I decided to shift the focus of the female friend to talking more about how they are empathetic and caring. Not all girls are dramatic, and it is necessary that is said in my essay. Most people would think that male and female friends are total opposites, and they might be in some ways, but they are the same in how a true friend will always treat you with love and respect, regardless of what gender they are. In my opinion, not everyone would think to say that it doesn't matter what gender a genuine friend is. In my introduction and conclusion, I made sure to include both genders of friends to show that gender based friendships, although can be juxtaposed, can still be compared in many positive ways.

I am juxtaposing my two brothers. They are Joe and Sam, and they are both very funny individuals. The essay practically just serves as an excuse to tell funny stories about the two of them in an effort to show off their character. The two of them are unique to each other in a variety of ways. Joe for instance is a lot more thrifty with his money while Sam is much more willing to spend it. For the most part, I try to compare and contrast not obvious aspects to their personality which are also comedic. An example of this is Sam’s fanatic interest with mushrooms where he will go hiking out in the woods in an effort to find some samples, or he will spend hours trying to start a fire with a mushroom with flammable qualities. In this way, Sam can become quite obsessed with anything that interests him. Joe is much quieter than Sam, so he will not really pursue his interests the same way. I also compare their drinking habits as a unifying bond between the two of them. I try my best to showcase the two of them as silly people with silly similarities and differences.

In my essay, I have decided to juxtapose the differences and similarities between East River and West River South Dakota. I rely on past experience and knowledge of our state to provide examples and reasoning behind my arguments. Obviously, there are similarities between them but the hard part is digging deeper and finding the differences and similarities that lie beneath the surface. I explore topics of a wide range going from cultural differences, demographics and where people live, parks and natural beauty. Although one might think that we might all be the same, the differences are staggering. From entertainment that comes to town, to the semi professional sports teas, to college rivalries, there is a big difference from east and west. Although there are differences, we are still one state so subjects such as laws, representatives, and taxes are mostly state wide. These are just some of the topics of discussion I go into in my essay.

I am currently writing my comparison contrast essay about comical scary movies and spooky scary movies. I have chosen this topic due to the time of year. Halloween is right around the corner, so I thought it would be a great topic to discuss. I will be juxtaposing these two topics because they have both obvious and obscure similarities and differences. By digging deep into the making of these movies, I will be able to uncover the paramount elements of horror movies. Hopefully, my essay will help people of all ages decide which category of horror movie, if any, is the best fit for them. The sub-topics I have chosen for my essay are the movie's characters, plot, and the audience's reaction. These factors will provide a clear understanding of what goes into comical and spooky scary movies. My goal of this essay is not to be biased toward one type of movie, but to help others understand the differences and similarities.

In our essay, Ty Caron and I are juxtaposing old cars and new cars. There are quite a few differences, and in this essay we are diving into some of the things that you may not see right away. Our focus is on how technology changed and molded the automotive industry through advances. We look at things like aerodynamics, engine performance, efficiency, and safety. A lot of research has gone into our essay to find out why exactly these cars were constructed the way that they were. Vehicles in the past were missing a lot of key features like seat belts and airbags, and in the writing we dive into exactly why. We tie historical events to further explain the reasons that vehicles were made the way they were. By showing how the world has changed, our essay was able to go deeper into why certain upgrades have made their way into modern cars.

My essay, written in collaboration with Andrew Erkonen, is comparing and contrasting old cars and new cars. The juxtaposition of these two is one with both obvious differences and some more nuanced ones. One such difference is in the very materials used in manufacturing these automobiles. Cars made in the past would have simple materials, such steel and basic rubbers and plastics. At face value, they seem fine, but there is no structure to the way they interact, and in the event of a crash, the results can be fatal. Modern autos have changed the way they are designed and this has made all the difference in several situations. Different materials are available now that can work with each other to interact in special ways. Crumple zones are places on the car designed to deform in the event of a crash, absorbing energy that may otherwise push the engine into the occupant’s legs, or crush the rear of the vehicle into the rear passengers. Instead, the exterior of the car takes much more damage, keeping the occupants safe from harm. This is just one example of a small change in cars that one would not immediately consider in a direct comparison.

My essay, which I wrote with Rylie Nettestad, is about love and lust. This essay seemed to be easy for us because of our long relationship. Yes, love and lust are for the most part different. But they do have similarities. The juxtaposition we chose to do is how someone can turn something from lust into love. Lust is short term. Love is long term. Our essay will tell you that you can indeed turn lust into something much better. It also will give you facts on how long relationships last. Knowing where your relationship fits in can lead you into marriage. Lust and love are both used in marriage. Although, if it only involves one or the other your marriage may not last. Most people in the first case do not even know that their relationship is a lust relationship. In order to know what lust is our essay gives many examples of the signs it shows. In addition with that, it tells you some signs of love that you may have never noticed. Simple things like compliments or a racing heart when you are around them show love. Giving presents is what most people want in a relationship to show love. Many people also think lust is only intimacy.. in most cases it may be, but also lust can be just wanting a girlfriend or boyfriend. By explaining the difference between lust and love we hope that relationships can start turning into something that lasts a lifetime.

I am writing an essay over apples and oranges. They are very clearly different, but have more similarities than what is initially thought. Quite obviously the apple and the orange look rather different, the orange being... orange and nearly perfectly circular, while the apple comes in red, green and the occasional yellow, it will normally be oblong in shape. Apples and Oranges both contain seeds, which is fairly self explanatory since that is the definition of a fruit. Both the apple and the orange take advantage of a third party when dispersing their offspring, that both plants use animals as a means of transporting their seeds. Apples originated in southern Kazakhstan and were cultivated, roughly near 2,000 BC, the orange, on the other hand was domesticated in southeast China and started roughly in 2,500 BC. The apple and the orange both have five petal blossoms and their fruit have radial symmetry.

My juxtaposition essay is focused around physical and mental health. It is pretty obvious they are both important to maintain and keep in good condition. Mental health is an epidemic but I do think it is changing and will not be an epidemic for long because people are talking about it, as they should. There are a lot more similarities people would notice if they thought about it, even I learned more just by writing my ideas down about the similarities and differences. All the way from the causation, treatment, symptoms, effects, and seeking help. I wish everyone knew that having one is not worse than the other when it comes to the acceptance by society. Health is health and it should not matter whether it is mental or physical—like race; black or white a person is a person and should be treated and respected the same. I would love for everyone to notice they aren’t so different and to not be afraid to talk to someone about whatever pain they are going through or if they are scared about their health.

In my essay, I chose to juxtapose babies and the elderly. Being that the two are on opposite ends of the spectrum of life, it might seem like they are completely different. Having worked with babies while babysitting, and elderly people in the nursing home, I know that they are different, but they are the same in a lot of ways. In some ways such as their dignity and life experiences they are very different, but they also have many similarities. For instance, babies and elderly people alike need special care. It is commonly known that babies wear diapers, but many elderly folks need to wear them as well. Babies can only drink milk, and although older people can have more than milk, many need thickened liquids due to dysphagia. When babies get a little older they can have soft foods. Likewise, a good amount of old people need to have their food ground up or cut up into little pieces in order to eat it. Old people are certainly not just big babies, but they do have many similarities.

My comparison contrast essay is about people who have siblings and people who are only children and how the aspects of their home lives/personality is different and yet similar. I came upon this topic after being with different groups of friends and I noticed that when presented with the same situation we approached it differently sure, but also we grouped around those whom had similar tactics and that also happened to be those who had siblings and those who didn't. Some things that other people may not have noticed about my topic is just the fact that how your are raised and your home situation has such a large impact on who you are and how you do things. Our first long term relationships are with our siblings and how we are able to get along and compromise with each other sets the tone for how we are able to handle issues in future friendships and relationships. Also those who miss out on that bond siblings share they are more likely to struggle with situations that require them to work as a team or divide adn conquer because they have always been a leader because that was their only option.

I am juxtaposing two different ages that would both fall in the juvenile range. The two that I am comparing are a 4-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. A few years ago these two age groups would probably have more in common than they do now, society has implemented so many things into TV, radio, school, that it makes younger children start seeming older. The problem is that these children are just that: children. They should not know many of the things that they do, this leads to bad behavior because their immature minds learn about mature things. Most people might think that a 4-year-old and a 14-year-old are very similar, but after leaving with the two I know that they are not. In my photo essay I want to show these superficial differences, as well as their deep differences. To do so, I will use juxtaposition and hopefully find a way to include some other Final Exam terms that I now understand better, like chiasmus or hypophora.

In my essay, I am comparing and contrasting the phrases “Inspired by a True Story” and “Based on a True Story.” These two phrases sound the same but hold actually completely different meanings in terms of what Hollywood gets to do. “Inspired by a True Story” is the more lenient of the two as basically it means that Hollywood has to keep the core events the same but everything else is far game to change. They are not held down by the construct of historical accuracy and can do whatever they want. “Based on a True Story” is a different monster as this phrase forces them to stay on track and adhere more to what happened. However, Hollywood like to overuse this phrase and use it as a way to get people in seats. These particular movies should be labeled “Inspired by a True Story” instead of “Based on a True Story.”

I compared and contrasted logic and emotion. My main point was to use two individuals as examples for perspectives built only on pure logic or pure emotion: Logicians and Idealists. I used relatable situations for each scenario in order to more effectively connect with my readers. One thing that nobody would have guessed from reading my essay is that the two personalities I used are actually based off of me and my girlfriend. I am the Logician, and she is the Idealist. This made it extremely easy for me to write the sentences based on logic, but also extremely difficult to use the same depth and understanding for the emotional side. I actually had to ask my girlfriend what she would do in these situations, since my perspective was radically different. As for new features, I found out that even if you are using two complete ideas as an example, and they share absolutely nothing in common, they still maintain a sense of significance. Even though logic and emotion are literally on opposite sides of the perspective spectrum, their positions grant them equal amounts of significance in life. Both logic and emotion have the same greatness of effect on people; they just manifest their effects in different ways.

I am comparing love and lust because i feel they are very misused in today's society. The two have many things in common and can coexist but one carries a lot more weight than the other. I think that the two that i am comparing and contrasting are two that have not come to the mind of many because it is hard for anyone to know which one to use. I think people never look at the reasons behind the feeling they have and go off of blind feeling. These two feelings require a lot more attention than just an average glance. Considering most people only say love it because they feel obligated to, it might be time to figure out what feeling they truly have for a person. It should not be a thing that is said blindly it should have a reasoning and should be able to be expressed in any possible way.

Comparing and contrasting can seem like an easy, simple thing to do. You take two subjects and find the big and small similarities and differences. For some, it is easy because they are major differences, but can also find the similarities easily. I am comparing the saxophone and percussion sections. For me, this is a special essay because it includes a story on my musical journey when I switched from one to the other. There are a lot more differences than similarities in my writing , so I really had to dig down deep and search for reasons why the two sections are the same. One thing that is unique in my writing is that I am composing this essay based on of personal experience. During middle middle school I made the switch between the two sections and it was the best decisions, but one of the scariest I have ever made. I hope readers can feel the emotional connection.

I am juxtaposing high school and college. There is a lot to be learned by comparing these two things because they are both very different but correlate together so seamlessly. An example of this would be how you live with parents in high school but in college you either live by yourself or with a roommate. This is an obvious difference but it affects your educational experience more than you think. Also in college, the classes have more to do with your future occupation than just basic education subjects in high school. This is because college is meant to prepare you for work in a specific field and therefore the classes are typically harder with more homework and studying than any other classes you would have taken in high school. But not all the differences are bad because college is a good transition to adult life and become self-dependent. It is a time that people can learn what it takes to be an adult without just being thrown out into the world.High school on the other hand allows you to enjoy your youth because you are old enough to drive and have certain freedoms but young enough to not have to worry about the responsibilities of adulthood. As you can see there are several differences between high school and college and while many people are worried about this time of life, it is also a great time of learning and maturity.

I am juxtaposing the United States and Malta. Most people would assume that since Malta is so far away and in the Mediterranean, that it would be completely different than the United States. In some ways, yes, it is different, but there are many similarities between the two. One feature that my readers may never have noticed or observed themselves is the fact that they have the same language as us. They speak English in Malta just like we do in the United States, which is very surprising to many people. Another new feature is the fact that the food is surprisingly similar in Malta compared to the United States. For example, I could eat a pizza or chicken strips in Malta and drink a Coke with my meal. One interesting difference that most people have never observed is how the concept of time is viewed in Malta versus the United States. In Malta, time is not very important and people show up late to plans, events, and events all the time; in the United States, being late is a very big disappointment and can ruin a dinner date or get you fired from a job. Obviously, Malta and the United States have some things in common and some differences, but there are more similarities and differences than most people think there are.

I am juxtaposing track and cross country. Most people find these two sports really similar in the way that they both involve running. Although, what people don't know is the strategy, distance, and other difficulties you encounter when running in these two different sports. It is clearly not for all events in track; I am strictly speaking about long distance races in track like the 400m, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. These two sports correlate in a lot of ways, but the different strategies that go along with each sport are extremely important. In cross country, there are many more people in a race so it is possible to get boxed in between runners and not be able to reach your full potential. The races are also much longer because we run a 5k, which equates to about 3.1 miles. In track, however, the longest race is the 2 mile race. In addition, I think people would be surprised to notice the different terrain cross country runners run on. Sometimes it could be on a flat golf course, and other times it could be at mchardy park where we have to run up the hill three separate times. The week before the race requires a vast amount of prep time for either track or cross country. Undoubtedly, there are more differences between the two sports than people might have though.
