In-Class Syntax Blogging 1: S & CD Sentences

For this exercise, you must (1) type 10 simple sentences, 5 of which have one prepositional phrase and 5 of which have two prepositional phrases; and (2) 10 compound sentences of varying length. Remember the eight coordinating conjunctions you need to make compound sentences: "and, or, for, nor, but, so, yet, ;". With syntax variety, you will be smarter and your writing will be better (hey--I just typed a compound sentence right there.)

DUE SATURDAY NIGHT 10:00 P.M. IF YOU DO NOT FINISH DURING CLASS.

In-Class Syntax Blogging 2: CX & CD-CX Sentences

For this exercise, you must (1) type 10 subordinating conjunctions; (2) type 8 complex sentences, 4 of which must have the dependent clause first, 4 of which must have the independent clause first; and (3) type 4 compound-complex sentences. If you complete this exercise, you will have a better understanding of syntax variety (hey--I just typed a complex sentence right there).
