I guess it's a good idea to learn how to properly write a letter.

I think the Letters project is a fun idea. Also, I think our class will enjoy the project.

Anonymous said...

My first thought about our Letters project was who am I going to write too? I think this will be a fun project, but how will I get a response?

Unknown said...

My first impression of the letters is that it's not only a good idea for us to learn how to properly write a letter but it also is a way to show appreciation to smaller less appreciated celebs.

Anonymous said...

I am excited about this project, but also a little hesitant because I have not yet decided who I want to write to. Once I make a decision about who I want to contact I believe that this assignment will be a lot of fun and a good learning experience, especially if I get a response.

I am excited about the letters project! I feel as though writing to a person for justice or change is a very good thing. This will almost put extra pressure on these elected officials to listen to the young people who are paying attention to them. While writing letters to celebrities is fun and great, we also have to remember that they are people too. Receiving a letter from someone, no matter who you are is a fantastic way of knowing the number of people who care about you.

Im excited to see if they respond or not. Also I write a lot of letters so I want to see if I have been doing it right this whole time.

I am a little concerned that we are already starting to write but I am up for the challenge! I also have a few questions. My first question is how formal do the letters need to be? What format are we writing the letters?

Anonymous said...

I still don't know who I am going to be writing to yet and I don't know what I am going to write about either. I think that this letter project will give me a good idea about what to expect from this class.

Anonymous said...

For the letters project, I think it'll be a good learning experience on how to reach out to people when you think there needs to change. I can learn what the process is and how to write a letter that will actually create change. With the celebrity letter, it's along the same lines of knowing how to do it.

Anonymous said...

I'm excited to write a letter about getting something done. I think that the letter to the celebrity will be more challenging because I have no clue who I would want to write to. The letters that I write I don't want to send them out.

Anonymous said...

For the letter we have to write to a celebrity I am unsure who to write the letter to. I am also scared that I will not know how to write letters. Overall I am just very unsure about this.

Anonymous said...

My first thought about writing a letter is that it is going to be great to learn how to write one. It will also be nice to see if the person that I write to will respond to my letter or not.

Anonymous said...

It will be interesting to learn more on how to write a letter since we don't write many anymore. It's also good that we have to learn to make things happen by using our words because most people will really listen to that.

Anonymous said...

My first thoughts are that the letters project is a good way to start the year. You can't go wrong with learning how to properly write letters. I haven't spent much time writing letters, so it would be nice to know if I have been doing them right or I need to figure out how to do them right.

Caden Flier said...

The letters project should be fun, I mean it is a project.

My first immediate reaction to the letters project was to question who I was going to contact. After a little thought about who I was going to contact I was able to give the overall project some thought. I believe that the project is a great idea. I know that most of these "celebrities" will actually respond. I then started to think about how I was going to fight the "power". I am still wondering who I will be contacting and what I will be trying to accomplish. The biggest drawback for me and I can assume many others is that we believe no one wants to listen to the opinion of a highschooler. However, I am sure I can find some sort of problem that I can actually have an impact on.

I would like to write a celebrity. I think it would be fun. I would probably choose to write a letter to Clint Eastwood. He is an actor who starred in many westerns and now directs films. I think it would be a great way to learn to write a proper letter. would like to write to him because I am a fan of his films and career. I think this will be a relatively challenging task due to my generation's lack of experience when it comes to writing letters.

Anonymous said...

I'm interested in doing this project I still am not sure who I plan on writing my letter to but I think that it would be cool to write to a Vikings football player who isn't a star player and isn't very well known because I feel like that way they'd be more likely to see the letter and respond to me and then be more likely to make a difference with their platform as a NFL player. The change that I would like to see them promote is equality. The reason I think that this would be a good cause is that the NFL is one of the largest platforms which reaches millions of people every day which they could spread the message to and help make a difference.

I usually find difficulty in doing things like this, it's hard for me to find a subject to write about. I feel like the hardest part will be figuring out what I'm going to write about for each of the different letters.

Anonymous said...

My first thoughts about the letters project were that I am excited to write to a celebrity but I don't know who I am going to write to.

Anonymous said...

My first thoughts on the letter project are, it is a good start to the class and a good first project. I think that it can also help some of the students who don't know as many people in the class get to know each other through who they write a letter to and what that student might be interested in.

Anonymous said...

My first thoughts are that this is a good start to the year because letters are easier than more formal writing. I think it's important for adults to hear the youth's thoughts and ideas.

Anonymous said...

It's important to learn how to properly write a letter that makes sense. It could also be useful to know how to communicate your point to other people without making it too confusing.

My first thoughts are that it seems like a good way to start the year off. I think learning how to properly write a letter is a lot easier than jumping right in to something like an essay.

Rachel Dew said...

I think that the letter projects are a bit odd. However, I am remaining optimistic that it will be a fun experience.

Anonymous said...

I think letters are old school and aren't used that much anymore. I think it's cool to receive a handwritten letter in the mail but it rarely happens. I'm excited to be able to write formal letters and write to people I might have never expected I would write to.

Luke Kocer said...

My first thoughts are that this will be a fun start to the year because we are going to be writing to someone that we choose and so we will be able to have fun with it.

Anonymous said...

First thoughts on the letters that we are writing are that it is a good way to start writing better. Nothing too long but longer than just a paragraph.

Anonymous said...

My thoughts on writing these letters are that it gives us a lot of freedom to choose who we want to write to which makes it more fun than many other writing prompts. I also think it is a good start to the year to get to know people and their interests while learning to write.

Anonymous said...

I am not sure who I am going to write a letter to. I doubt that I will get a response but it should be an interesting project.

Alexis Dooley said...

My first thought about the letters project is excitement. It seems fun to write a letter to a celebrity in hopes of getting a response. It will be really interesting to see if the person writes back. I think it is a fun activity to reintroduce us to writing.

Anonymous said...

I am a little startled at the fact that we are doing this already. Although, I am excited to possibly get a response and or see other people's responses.

Anonymous said...

I think this is a good idea because it will help us to get more practice and experience writing letters. I don't usually have to write letters often, but this will help me get more used to it. However, I feel like I will have difficulty in choosing whom to write to.

Anonymous said...

My first thoughts on the letter project is that it will be very interesting and also very useful for all of us to become better writers. Even though the letter project will not be a formal writing it will lay the foundation for us to go into formal writings later on in the semester. We will need to write formal letters for various aspects of our life and the more practice we can get the better we will become.

Anonymous said...

The first thoughts that I have on this project are that I have no idea who I would even write to. Other than that though, I think it's a good intro into the class that I will be taking.

Kaleesta Waysman said...

My first thought about the letter project is that it may become helpful later in life. This project will prepare me for my future as I may have to write a formal letter to someone "important". In addition to being a great learning experience, this project seems enjoyable. I am curious to see if the people I write to will write or send anything back.

Luke Burch said...

Personally, I am excited to be writing these letters to celebrities. It will be fun to see who gets an autograph or gets free stuff in the mail. I am gonna write to an athlete and try to get a signed hat or jersey.

Abby Christensen said...

I am excited to write these letters because it will give us the opportunity to express our feelings/concerns to a specific person/company. The only thing I think will be difficult is figuring out who I will write to.

Joseph K said...

My first thought was that this would be a fun start of the year for writing. It would be easy and fun to write to someone that you look up to, as you should know that person fairly well.

Anonymous said...

I guess I would say that learning to write a proper letter would be a good thing to know before going off to college. I have some ideas on who I would like to write to but not really a rock solid idea.

Sam Olthoff said...

I think it will be fun to write the letter once I figure out who to write to. I don't know if I will get a response, but, if I do that would be pretty cool.

Anonymous said...

I think it'll be fun to write a letter to someone I look up to. I plan to write to a vikings player.

Rachel Strizhius said...

I think that the letters sound pretty interesting. It'll probably be hard for me to be persuasive, but I'll probably grow me a lot as a writer.

Andrea Cain said...

My first thoughts about writing these letters are that it will be very beneficial for us to learn how to write this way. I think that it is an important skill that doesn't always get taught in the classroom. It will ease us into writing.

Anonymous said...

It's a great idea to make a change in the world. It might be hard finding a person to write to but if we do make a change, it's important that we pick a worthy cause.

Anonymous said...

I am excited to write my letter. I think it's a good way to start off the year, and it's nice to be writing with a purpose. It will be interesting to see who gets a response back and who doesn't.

Anonymous said...

I think that writing letters could be a lot of fun but I currently don’t know who I’m writing to so I am a little hesitant about being so excited to do this project.

Jacob Jorgenson said...

I think that the letters are a great way to talk to companies and celebrities about what you like or dislike about them. I think that the hard part will be deciding who to write to and what to say to them to see if you can get a response.

Anonymous said...

I think this will be interesting for a first assignment and this will be fun, though I have no idea who or what to write.

Karsyn Driscoll said...

Writing letters seems interesting. The last time I wrote a letter to someone was in elementary school, it was fun! I don't know who or what I'll write to yet, but I'm hoping for a response.

Annaliese Braucht said...

When the prospect of writing letters was first introduced, I was filled with memories of elementary school projects and freshman time capsules. However, as the project continued to be expanded upon, and some examples of positive results were provided, I began to realize the potential of this project. If done properly, influence can be used to induce change or positive feedback. I think it is a wonderful way to begin composition that may also influence positive change and fun memories, all in one.

I think that it is a great idea that we are going to be writing to a celebrity. I also think that it will be a little hard to think of ways to convince them to send something or to even read the letter but it is interesting.

Anonymous said...

I think that writing letters will be fun because we have a lot of freedom to choose who we want to write to. I think that it will be interesting to see who responds back to people.

Nick Gromer said...

I think that these letters will be a great way to introduce the class and get our feet wet with writing and composing.

Our first essay seems like a good way to begin exploring writing by composing a letter and sending it to someone who impacts us. This essay can express who we are by the kind of people we idolize. It’s a creative way to introduce ourselves to other students.

Brooklyn Grage said...

I think that writing these letters will be beneficial to us because it is a good way to open up about ourselves while also starting to compose our first essays.

Anonymous said...

I am excited to write letters because it is not a common way of communicating to people, but I think it is still very important. It will be interesting to see who replies.

Anonymous said...

I believe that writing letters to someone you choose would be fun to see if they respond to you or send you something. It will be hard to use ethos, pathos, and logos in my opinion.

Tyler Westcott said...

I think writing letters is a fun way to start off the year. It's a good way to get into writing and can be fun to choose who to write too.

Anonymous said...

My first thought about the letters is that I think it will be something out of my comfort zone. I am not used to writing letters. These days, I feel like people my age don't know a lot about writing letters since everything is done through social media. Writing formal letters isn't taught a lot, and I am excited to learn what I think will be a valuable skill.

I think that being able to write letters to whomever we want to will be pretty fun. I also like how we get to choose who and what we want to to write about, unlike previous letters I had to write.

Abbey Jacobsen said...

This project sounds really fun, I am excited to see if I can get a response!

Anonymous said...

I think that composing a letter to an important figurehead or someone I look up to would be fun. I've gotten stuff before from doing so and look forward to seeing how this plays out.

Ericka Risty said...

I think writing letters will be fun especially writing to a celebrity/company. It will be a great way to start the year with something simple yet impactful.

Kemner said...

I think that the letters will be fun to write and get in contact with someone I never thought I would. My only goal is that my letter does not cause the recipient to be fired as my brother jokes that his letter did. It would be cool to receive something back so that is what I am hoping for.

Abigail Blok said...

I think writing a letter will be a fun project and that the class will find it enjoyable. I do wonder where would be best for the recipient to receive the letter seeing how there are multiple locations on her website.

Luke Feeken said...

I think this will be an interesting project to see how effectively students can write letters to people they likely haven’t met.

Alyssa Hasert said...

Writing these letters to various celebrities is a good way to encourage excitement with our first writing assignment. It will be interesting to see the responses people will get.

Olivia Kern said...

Initially, I was a bit confused about the purpose of these letters. Oftentimes when thinking of fan mail, I imagine a celebrity throwing out the letters from their fans. However, after seeing the examples of replies that students have received, I have become very excited about this assignment. I am really hoping that whoever I contact is willing to reply.

Mark M said...

I originally thought that the letters were only a way to get us to write. After hearing the past letters working I now know what a letter can do and am hoping mine works like the others did.

Anonymous said...

I think this will be fun to be able to write a letter to someone we look up to or really like. It will be interesting to see what people get back.

Anonymous said...

I think that the letters project is a good idea. I think that it is a fun way to show us how to write a proper letter.

Hannah Pearce said...

I think writing these letters will be fun once I know who I want to write to. But for now, I'm having trouble coming up with idea of who to write to.

Anonymous said...

I personally feel like the letters will give me a chance to better my writing. I am excited to put emotion and logic into what I am talking about, definitely something I will love to have later on!

Jennica Pitts said...

I think the letters project will be interesting and something fun if we get responses and items back from who we write to.

Anonymous said...

At first, I wasn't sure who I would write to or how the overall assignment would go. Now, I think it will be a fun project and I'm interested to see if I get a reply back!

Eli Kirlin said...

I think that this sending a letter to a celebrity idea is pretty cool because we don't talk to celebrities on a daily basis. So reaching out to them or their team and getting a response or free merch or items from them in return would be neat.

Anonymous said...

I think this will be a fun project even though I have no idea who I am writing to yet. I enjoyed hearing the stories about previous students getting responses.

Anonymous said...

I think that the idea of trying to make an impact or get something done is a good reason for us to be sending letters to celebrities, as we can show them that they have an influential position and that the topic we write about is something that some ordinary, average teenager from South Dakota cares enough to write about. The "thank" letters are also a good way to show a celebrity that they are looked up to and influencing people, and I'm excited to write my letter and (hopefully) receive a reply!

Jaxen M said...

I think that the letter project is a good way to teach how to send a formal letter to someone. It is a very useful skill to have later in life. Making it a project like this also puts a fun part to it on something that could happen out of it like all of the other students.

Anonymous said...

I'm honestly excited to write a letter to a celebrity. I think they deserve to know how they have impacted my life. Plus after hearing other's success story, I'm hoping to have one of my own.

Anonymous said...

This is definitely an out-of-the-box school project. We are never really given this much space to be creative and do what we want. I'm really hoping that my celebrity reads my letter, and it would be insane if he actually got back to me.

Paige Keller said...

I think these letters are a great idea. It teaches us our English lesson but also has the incentive of a gift if we pick the right person and write well enough.

Jonah Bebensee said...

These letters should be a very interesting way to start the year. I am excited to see some of the responses my classmates will get. Hopefully, they will receive some cool stuff as well. Not only will we potentially receive something, but some will also be able to use their letter to help someone else out.

Anonymous said...

I think letters are a fun idea. Writing a letter to a celebrity will be fun because you don't write to a celebrity every day. Once I figure out who I am going to write to I think I will enjoy it.

Anonymous said...

I'm super excited to be writing these letters. I think this project is a fun way to get back into writing. I'm still not sure who I want to write to. After hearing about past students receiving things, it has motivated me to think more about who I want to write to and how I'm going to write to them in order to get something back.

Anonymous said...

The idea of sending a letter to a celebrity is intriguing because we look up to a lot of celebrities but we don't really imagine being able to speak to a celebrity in written form too often. Having this being a reality for a school assignment sounds pretty cool and I'll have to think about who I'm gonna write to so I can make the most out of this project.

I think this assignment will be both fun and useful. I'm not sure who I want to write to, but I hope I can write a letter well enough to get a response.
