One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest Prediction
Any guesses as to the plot, characters, setting, theme, tone of or about the novel/movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest? We start this book on Friday. And remember: type your period number in front of your comment.
period 3 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, according to the picture looks like it might be about a convict; or maybe someone who is crazy with hope. The birds flying over look more like geese than a bird of hope. The window may signal being trapped with the chain link fence on the other side of the window. To me it feels like this book is going to be strange and different. A book that makes you really think about what is happening or what is goign to happen latter in the book.
7 my guess is that one flew over the cuckoos nest is a lot like patch adams. in a sence that a person that really dosnt need to be in an insane asylum is there and meets some intresting people. i have heard good comments from my mom about this book and i am excited to read it.
Hooray for intelligent predictors! We'll spend a lot of time with this novel, allowing us to excavate like never before. Finish well with Pygmalion, and be ready for some scholarly depth. A lot of black humor and tone shifts--full of unforgettable literary devices. Hippies love this book, because it was written by one of their heroes, but anyone can relate, regardless of who they are.
I saw this film before I read the novel. I saw a part of it before I saw the whole thing. I remember predicting that this film was going to be about a power struggle, which was a prediction that was confirmed. I also recall being puzzled by the way the men behaved; I didn't understand the inner workings (schema) of the mind. I hadn't any experience in sociology and psychology to work with. Now that I've studied this book--and literature in general--for a long time, and had many wonderful professors at Augie, I can unwrap this novel well. With you, we'll think more critically than ever before, a skill expected by employers around the world.
pd 5 One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest book look like it is might be complicated. The birds flew like free. Both men look happy and free because the birds flew over them. One thing I don't know about is window. It is weird to have just window with no wall or something to attact to.
You will find this book to be among the "weirdest," indeed. However, while being among the most weird, it is also among the most sane. You'll see (and be delighted, I hope).
pd 3 By looking at the picture, I would have to agree that this book looks like it may be out there a bit. There's a floating window which will probably symbolize something in the book. The birds don't look very realistic. As long as it's not like "the house on mango street" i think I might be able to enjoy this book.
pd 1 I agree with Nicole it looks like it might be about prisoners of some sort. I think it will be about someone's struggle and how they deal with day to day life. I also think that the main character may try to get out of his "prison". This should be a very interesting book to read.
Per. 3 With the information in the picture I am guessing the novel has to involve at least one man. Since the men are in the clouds I think possibily these men over come some great force that keeps them grounded. The window in the back conflicts my theory though. Could the window represent some unforgettable place, person or thing that will always be over the men's heads.
To me it seems as if the men in the picture are institutionalized in some manner and the birds they are looking up at are symbols of the freedoms they wish they had. I belive them looking up was intentional, as to say they haven't given up hope in acheiving the same freedoms the birds have. I believe the chained window is a symbol of the barriers restricting the men from having the freedoms they desire. This novel seems incredibly indepth and i'm very much looking forward to reading and associating myself to it.

I agree this book is hard to understand if you read it to fast. If you read slower and try to truely comprehend each sentence on what Chief and the others are doing or thinking it comes to me alot easier. I also heard this book is awesome from many people. So i am excited to get farther and find out what that climax is!
